do the crime, pay the fine.

if getting a speeding ticket gets you this bent out of shape, get in the right lane and do the speed limit so i can speed on by.

Well I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion, but when you see a speed trap with 2 motorcycle police, capable of issuing an average $200 fine every 5min, and keeping it up for say 4 hours, that's 10k of revenue for that one speed trap. Not sure the salary of those two police officers come close to 10k/4hours but if it does I must sign up for the academy now. Even with the atrocious maintenance on those Harley Davidson pieces of s***, I think they come out on top no? Please explain

Now DUI checks, please have at it, they should probably change most of the speed traps to DUI check points...

And yes, I would really want a freeway where I can drive 100. I would really want people here to take driving seriously and the driving test to be an actual test...Once upon a time I drove 3,000miles on the old German Autobahn, where I would keep it pinned at 155mph for 30min at times, and averaging 110mph on 200 miles trips, and here I am, alive, not even a close call. So yes it's quite possible.

If I'm caught, I admit it, tell them the speed if they ask, and apologize.
As I speed almost everywhere I go, I'm caught and ticketed 0.000000000001% of the time I drive, I'll accept that because I'm a grown-up.
words to live by right here.

i speed so often, i get frustrated when my wife only goes 5 over...

but i also usually try to be nice and joke around with the cop. so far, been pulled over 5-6 times the last couple years, and havent had a speeding ticket in 4. Its all about how you act.

going "Im only going 75 in a 70" or "everyone else was speeding, why am I getting the ticket" is the easiest way to get a sweet personalized autograph from the cop.

Dude, my ex-wife got so tired of telling me to slow down that she made a sign which said, "Slow Down, MK" which she just held up.

While I love the off-topic diversion to prancercise; because who doesn't love prancercise?

I agree with everything except the "admit to what you've done" bit. I've got off a number of fines by following the #1 rule taught to me as a teenager: Never admit guilt.

There are tactics I use to be respectful:

Q: "Do you know what speed you were doing?"
A: "No, I was focusing on the road ahead and the traffic beside me. But I'd trust your judgement ..."

Q: "C'mon mate, you and I both know you were doing well in excess of the speed limit"
A: "Well, honestly, I was focused on the road ahead and behind. I check my speedo regularly, but I was really engaged in the pleasure of the drive. Last time I checked it I was under the limit, but if your radar says I was going over, then that's probably the speed I was doing."

".. I've really got no reason to doubt your judgement..."

... but (here at least) admitting to speeding is the best way to ensure you get a ticket. If you say "oh, I was doing about 130kph" the officer isn't going to write you a ticket for doing 112kph.

Police have seen it 100 times before, they know what you're doing - and what you're doing is keeping your lawyers options open to fight the ticket in court. And what police officer wants to waste a morning in court defending a minor speeding ticket.

... the other thing I love to do is grab my license as soon as I'm pulled over, then get out of the car and walk towards the police car with my license in hand.

It gets one of two reactions (and in the USA, I'd expect it'd get the first reaction only - so I wouldn't recommend that) - either you get told to get back in the car, or the officer walks up to you, in which case, I shake their hand, give them my license with the other, and suggest we stand off the road.

In the latter situation, I find a much greater chance of getting a fine knocked down or turned into a warning. You tend to have a much more relaxed conversation with the officer because you're on equal footing and his arse isn't in danger of being taken out by a passing truck.

How about this. Do you know how fast you were going? "I have no idea, I was focused on the road"......in Ontario that's called Careless Driving, driving without due care and attention. It's a huge fine and 6 demerit points. When I suggested admitting to what you were doing what my suggestion was "I was probably speeding". or "I was a bit over the limit", or if you want to be coy, "was I speeding officer?" or the officer will often say I stopped you for doing 100KPH in an 80 zone, you could reply, "sorry I didn't realize I was going that fast", I'm not suggesting that when you admit to what you were doing your answer is "I killed Jimmy Hoffa".

It's not that bad. Mesmerizing in a sense that it makes you wonder what goes through people's minds. The fact that she even thought of this is worrisome and even more so the fact that people may actually purchase, enjoy watching or actually go out and do this shit. I do appreciate that my level of embarrassment is used as a benchmark of what is deemed acceptable. Unsure if this is something I should say thank you and be proud of or the obverse.

BTW, a lady dropping F-bombs is as near and dear to my heart as watching women operate heavy equipment.

Hey, OP, go pay your ticket and find something else to complain about. This thread should be converted to the Prancersize Dis-appreciation Thread.

An F bomb is just an adjective. And you should be proud.

Inquiring minds want to know, and all the cool kids are doing it so I will close my office door and see what all the fuss is about. If I have nightmares tonight, I'm going to hunt you all down.
