Need new in-wall oven...
Mine broke. Can someone recommend a good brand? Looking for quality/reliability.
Last one was a Thermador. Didn't last, bad reviews, will try another brand. Consumer Reports doesn't have much to go on. Epinions not helpful. Very few comparisons online. Thanks |

I've done a few kitchens, can't go wrong with KitchenAid. The architect series is very good looking, with Whirlpool reliability. The KitchenAid in-wall double has handles that match my Thermador fridge (fridge also made by Whirlpool).

Not that great on reliability. The mfg has a product warranty, but I won't warranty the labor to replace them when they fail. Warranty on KitchenAid = no problem.

Wife is set on a GE oven.
I've always hated GE products - electronics, etc. She wants a GE Profile something something. Wolf hasn't gotten good reviews, reliability, design, etc. I have a Subzero fridge, but I'm completely unfamiliar with their ovens. Whirlpool, KitchenAid - not concerned about the warranty. I want one that won't need any service. The Subzero web site is shared with Wolf; I guess Subzero and Wolf are owned by the same company. |

My point was you won't have to worry about a warranty with KitchenAid. They rarely if ever need anything. That's why I cover the labor if they ever do need to be replaced. It's low risk for me.
The Wolf / SubZero have a poor track record, so it would cost me too much to come out and replace them if one of my clients had them. Most of the high-end brands send out someone to work on their product in your house for the first 1-3 years, but after that, you're on your own - you take it to their repair center if it's still under warranty, or you pay extra for in-home service. I gurantee my work, including the equipment I install, and I can't guarantee the Wolf or the SubZero. The GE Profile is OK, but it's rather pedestrian if you're comparing to Wolf, SubZero, Thermador, Fisher&Paykel, etc. The GE Monogram is their high end now, but it's not too hot either.

Glad to help. Forgot to mention Bosch - they're getting very good reviews, have some good looking stuff as well. Maybe a little more high-brow than KitchenAid, but you really should look at KitchenAid's high end Architect series. It is very classy, with loads of features.
