Its so they can give different quotes to each individual and see how much they can negotiate to make the most money.

this should be a requirement....I understand that the forum is a business and that you want to protect your revenue by protecting your vendors, however it is a common practice on all other boards for a price to be posted...

This is because, vendors have a minimum they have to sell it for. if caught selling under the minimum, they can lose their license and warehouse. i guess its a hassle, but im sure its only 1-2 minutes worth of time to PM someone.

What if you dont know what its worth? It ticks me off sometimes if they dont post a price but asks not to be lowballed.

Yeah i agree. Some cases (like my coding business) that require special pricing etc should have an estimate. For example i offer a flat rate fee but retrofits etc are on a "customized" pricing

I don't care about vendors not posting prices, that makes sense. It's the private party stuff that is annoying. Hell I could list WTS for 100's for threads and not post a price and just have a very high minimum offer.

I came across that with 3 vendors when I ordered my Cobb. All three vendor prices were very, very different and I chose the best one. Of course it cost me my time.

I do agree that you can use it as leverage. You can say 'x' vendor gave me this price, can you do better? then they'll do the best they can

Totally agree with the price posting for Private sellers

& +100 on posting pics in your FS ad - everyone on the planet has at least a phone with a camera, if you're too lazy or stupid to figure out how to post pics then don't bother cluttering up the classifieds with your worthless ad...

No one wants to PM or email for pics & the excuse 'you know what it looks like' doesn't fly - sure, we know what an item looks like in general - we want to know what the ACTUAL item being sold looks like, whether new or not

I'm also amazed when sellers post items that aren't clean. How lazy can you be if you can't even clean an item before listing it for sale?

Now PRIVATE sellers, that is a whole other matter.
