How do you sneek a new set of wheels past your wife?

I'm in a bind. I want to buy a new set of wheels for my 2007 E91 but I'm not sure I can get them past my wife. The tires are nearly new so I can't pull the "the guy had a great package deal and was just giving them away", or the "with a car like this you need to have a seperate set of winter and summer wheels" (winter is over). There is a chance that she wouldn't realize that I replaced them. I was thinking about going from a 16" to a 17" (Max an 18"), but where do I store my second set that I would like to keep for a set of snows?

She doesn't understand the car thing. She couldn't believe that I test drove an E90 after I bought my E91 (I won't go into what happened on that drive). I didn't want to drive a 335 before I bought my car because I wanted AWD wagon and felt that I would be so disappointed with the power in an AWD 328 that I would buy an 3.2 A4 Avant. I liked my last A4, but there was no comparison in the handling between the 2 cars.

So here I am. Any ideas?

When I got my 06 330xi, my wife had no clue for about a month until she thought the interior was different. She just doesn't pay attention to cars and they both happen to be gray so it just passed her by.....

You guys are whipped!!! hahaha. I feel for you, i really do. Just buy the rims and make up some excuse on how your rims are bad and the new ones are good and if she doesnt back down then tell her this joke...

Do you mean that you replaced the entire car? Damn that what I was considering if a 335 xiT was released. I just couldn't change the options and trim and I would have to use my current car as a trade to complete the ruse.

I used the diamonds as a preemtive strike for a 2 week bike trip to New Zealand a few years back and them my brother dropped out (I was counting on the "brothers so rarely get a chance to spend time together" routine that was so successful on a trip to Europe 10 years before)

Just get what you want. Any excessive banter rates a punch to the throat -- that will silence any objections!

Nah, I say get them with out asking and deal with what comes your way later...

With the straightest face you can muster, burst into the house and say " Honey, you've got to come outside and see this. Someone just stole the wheels that came with the car that I loved so much and replaced them with these POS wheels." She'll feel so sorry for you that she will console you and give you the best sex you ever had in order take your mind off the traumatic experience you have just been through.

It's a win, win situation. You get to keep your new wheels and have sex! What else could you ask for?

Just don't try this next month with the new aero kit you've had your eye on. You can only pull this off once, if you're lucky!

OR...

Take yer Nuts outta her purse...

Go buy what you like, so long as you're not putting a dent in the freaking savings or something who cares? Simple.

But if you're going to KEEP modifying? I found it better to just buy in batches. Wheels, Aero Parts, whatever. Do it in a batch, seems to avoid the whole, "What the heck is that?" and "I thought you said you weren't going to keep modifying this one?" Questions...

Make sure you have a buyer line for your old wheels then make the move.

Depends whos money is paying for it. Sure shes going to throw the "its our money" card, but cmon now..

If its yours, go ahead and don't worry about her yelling at you..

If its her you may have a problem. Consider yourself whipped if you are buying rims with her money.

Man, I'm going to get flamed...

Talk to her about it, educate her about it. Basically, I think you need her on board before you pull the trigger. If the situation were reversed, and she came home with a $2,000 pair of earrings or something without having discussed it with you first, how would that go over?

If she ain't on board, you ain't doing it.

Be a man, buy the rims, it seem like you know she's gonna get on your case already. If it's disposable money there shouldnt be any issue.
If it's her money or fall under the "our money" category, you might want to rethink buying because somewhere down the line it will come up how you have 2 sets of tires for 1 car.
I would buy it and wouldnt think twice, but thats just me, my wife doesnt have a chain around my neck.

Being a shop rep I shouldnt say anything but I had a great idea...

Sell your wheels and tires. Put your car on jackstands in your driveway for a day or something as youve got some wheels and tires coming in that same day. Keep the car there and tell your wife they stole the wheels and you need new ones in order to drive the car.

Damn I shouldnt have said anytihng
