Absolute fluke.
Could have been a couple less grains of powder not pushing the bolt all the way back so it caught the casing.
Don't know for sure. Everything performed flawlessly besides that right in the middle of the day.

Fingers crossed the scar should be here pretty soon, have a decent mount and decent glass waiting!

The scar 17s or "heavy" is 7.62 NATO, the scar 16s or "light" is 5.56 NATO

Wouldn't it make more sense to put the big scope on the heavy and the ACOG on the light? The battle rifle is more useful at long range.

The ACOG I got on sale, its made with a bullet drop comped for 7.62. The Zeiss is far from high end glass and the heavys have a tendency to "eat" optics aside from the acogs and high end stuff

I finally got to take my ar and scar 17 out to play! I am impressed with these two pieces. My ar has an eotech mounted up, and it is easy to pick off targets at 100yds.

The scar has "iron" sights (I still have not picked an optic) and its easy to pick off cans at 70 to 100 yrds, and recoil is very manageable.

It should be noted that I am an extreme novice rifleman, but these two guns make the shooter look far better the he actually is.

Just picked up a S&W M&P Tactical, got it for a hell of a deal for $940 with tax, brand new!

Here's a stock pic, mine doesn't have the optics or fore grip yet though, although I have ordered some.

I started an SPR build. Waiting to find a stripped upper and lower receiver. Everybody is sold out at the moment. All the other components are readily available (for the most part) but trying to find an upper receiver, lower receiver and BCG is a bitch.

This is an exact repeat of 2008 when I built my first AR-15.

The S&W M&P AR-15s are a great value. I've seen the internals and they do a great job. Really impressed. Congrats.

What optic and foregrip did you go with?

On my Daniel Defense M4V3, I went from the Daniel Defense VFG (which is fairly long) to the Magpul AFG2. I like the AFG2 but I have been experimenting with the Magpul's stubbier VFG. I like to use it as a hand stop more than anything.

That will be a handy little carbine, for sure.

My vote would be for the Gemtech.
