interesting problem with xenons - DEPO p90

So ive had the depo p90s on since they came out, and love them as i'm sure most others do.

Interestingly however, a few days ago i noticed the drivers side xenon wasnt on. The high beams and side markers etc were all still working, so i tried turning the headlights on/off with the switch, and the driver's side still stayed off. when i got to a stop sign, i turned the car off and on and voila both headlights working fine.

Everything was completely fine for about two weeks, but when driving home tonight, the same thing happened. After restarting the car it went out after a few mins, restart and again. Now it pretty much won't stay on.

I'm gonna try swapping out cancellers, ballasts, etc to isolate the problem, but does anyone have any ideas as to what this may be? maybe the bulb is out? its 6000k from jlevisw. Not sure what type but i know its not D1S

any help would be appreciated

Bulb type is H7 I believe, try swapping the ballasts/cancel units to see if it doesn't replicate the problem and keep us posted.

Check all the connections first and make sure they are making good contact with each other. That includes the part where you connect the loose blade plugs to the factory H7 connector for power.

Here is a link with some good vids and troubleshooting guides.

thanks for the info, that site is great. i just swapped the cancellers, so we'll see if one of those was faulty. I checked all wiring, it felt like the problematic headlight's harness may have been a smidge loose on one side, prolly negligible, possibly just in my head, but i tightened it up anyways

We'll see tonight what happens, i'll keep everyone posted in case anyone else gets this prob

sounds like the ballast is going. it starts with the light going out, and then coming on at random times, or when you turn them on and off. eventually it will just full die and not come on anymore. swap the ballast from the working light to the problem light and see if it lights up. i have mastered this from dealing with e90 andyy

well i switched the error cancellers after my last post, left to right and vice versa. believe it or not the problematic light switched to the passenger side. same symptoms, but it seems to be getting worse and more frequent. i am not sure exactly how the cancelers work, but im going to buy a replacement set and that should solve the problem.

really hope its not the ballast. has anyone else experienced problems like this with the p90 set? if not i think its pretty safe to assume its the cancelers as well

considering the canceller is just resistors and capacitors and what not (which i dont know too much about) does anyone thing its possible to replace and resolder the components with new ones from radio shack? rather than having to have no usable headlight for a month while i wait on shipping from china

Noticed that Jlevi SW has a error canceling unit for the P90, might be able to get faster delivery then from china? Maybe something to look into too...

UPDATE i got the new cancellers in the mail today and it solved the problem. needless to say i'm extremely relieved that it wasnt a ballast or headlight issue which would have been considerably more expensive. even tho i ordered from a different guy, its the exact same unit as im sure 99% of the ebay ones are. luckily i ordered an extra so i'll be ready in case another fails on me.

these are the specific ones i ordered, soley because the description promises delivery in 3 days no matter what. i ordered on sunday and had them thurs so id say thats about right

Contact Jay and Damon, they have a canceler they use for their conversion that can fit inside the headlight. Suppose to have a direct connect with a manufacture that strictly works with them on bmw e90 lighting. Those are the old cancelers and the new ones are same size as the AAA battery.

Hey sandman, how long did your setup last before you started experiencing problems?
