i remember this getting posted in the past and heard someone saying the parents did infact buy him the xbox (but gave it to him afterwards)...

Update: We've been flooded with email from well-meaning geeks and even Microsoft; just about everyone wants to help us hook up Jonathan. We totally appreciate the sentiment, but we've got this covered. We think we've gotten in touch with his family (who let us know he never got an Xbox, and the whole thing really was a prank on the poor kid); once we know for sure we have the right people we'll post again.

A friend e-mailed me this video on Christmas morning and it made think of how elated i was to get a Xbox for Christmas a few years ago, and how devastated this kid was when his family was laughing at his heartbreak.

It really sucks that, beyond your quote, aacabriolet, no other news about the kid has surfaced.

I did something similar to my wife (then girlfriend) a few years back. I bought her a Louis Vuitton purse among some other things. Well when I wrapped everything up I threw a Lacoste sweater in the Louis box and put the purse in a Lacoste box.

Very first thing I gave her was the fake box lol. She tore the wrapping open and was like, "OMG you didn't!" haha. Then opened the box and was like "you asshole" haha. I then made up some BS about stopping at the store and getting a box just to fuck with her haha and she bought it. Last box I gave her was the purse box. After opening 3 consecutive gifts from Lacoste she tears the paper open to another Lacoste box haha and goes "geez you couldn't find another store" LOL. Opens it up to reveal the Louis and flips out haha. It was pretty good stuff, wish I would have taped it.



Anyways those people are wrong. Pulling a prank like that on a grown up is funny but a child. That lady needs to be hoe slapped.
