What should I get a Masters Degree in?

Graduated college in 2006, hate the jobs I have had. So I decided to go back to school and get a Masters. Any suggestions??

Depends on what degree you have. I'm in the medical field and it's pretty much the safest place I can think of....for now. Maybe a change of careers?

Wait that doesn't make any sense. You majored in something and got jobs in that field which you hate. Now you want to spend more time getting a higher degree to get jobs that you might hate even more?

Or did you mean use that degree and get a masters in something else? If that's the case only you can answer that question. Be sure to do something YOU like. I don't care if it pays a little less or that it doesn't give you a big title, just do it as long as you're happy.

I have a history degree, but dont want to go into that field. I have been working in Automotive Service industry. I've been a service advisor at various BMW dealerships and independent shops. Like what I do but in the end there really isnt great upward mobility. I am definitely looking for a career change with potential for one great money down the road, something that wont bore the crap out of me and has some semblance of stability.

What do you enjoy/like doing? If it's cars then perhaps you could start up a parts store or a garage. When you have your own business you're gonna be spending a lot of time making sure it's successful so you're not gonna be bored. You don't have to worry about a title cus you're already the boss.

On a side note...

Your major isn't entirely indicative of your future career path, especially at liberal arts colleges and universities. My uncle was a political science/history double major and ended up as the VP of U.S. Cellular at one point.

I'm not ready to start my own place, just because. I'm also really not looking to stay in the automotive industry if I can help it. What I enjoy, I enjoy reading about cars and driving them, I've thought about trying to apply for a job at one of the car magazines, but I don't have any sort of writing portfolio to give them.

Perhaps you should apply for a job at tuner shop?

Haha I didn't catch that until you pointed that out. That was pretty funny.

I have, not many are looking for new employees. I have been trying that route for the last 6 or so months. I am really looking to change my career path.

What do you do in the medical field if you don't mind me asking. I'm working on my business degree but have been thinking of switching over to medical degree due to the amount of opportunities the medical field has.

I'd say an MBA as well. Whatever you decide on doing, just always keep in mind that it's never too late to start a new career. Like yybiz said, your major isn't indicative of what you're going to do in life. I had every intention of going to med school. Took the MCATs and everything. Then I switch to doing research and working with autistics while getting a doctorate in clinical psych... Now I work in the computer field. My mantra has always been "it's never too late".

Wow worst possible place to discuss about your future with random people.
But if you want the solid and stable money, go to professional school.

+1. Since we are just throwing out random ideas with no idea what you actually want to do. I'm going to guess as a history major you did a lot of reading and memorizing and writing of papers. Sounds like transferable skills for law school.

But really you need to figure out what you want to do and then figure out the degree that will get you there.

You're skipping a few steps here...
First decide what you want to do then decide what you need to do to get there.

Then go do something else. The only person stopping you is.... you.
