[scan] Sportauto supertest: BMW 335i (Nurnburgring laptime)

I have the article but my german isnt good. I hope their is a german here that can write a summary about the test. I have some info ut I want to know more

Laptime Hockenheim 1.17,8 min (0,8 seconds faster than C55 and 1.5 seconds slower than M3)

0-100km/h 5.6 sec
0-200km/h 20,7 sec

Wet track: 1.36,8 min (M5 E60 1.36, 7min)

G-powers: 1.15g (C55, 1,10g and M3 1.10g)

Overall score: 45 points (1 point better than M3)

BMW, are they cheating? it is called the 335i even though it comes with a 3.0-litres bi-turbo engine. But the two 39mm turbo chargers give it the advantage same as 0.5 litres more displacement.

The powerful engine has no problem with the weight of the car, always offers enough power and makes it a pretty good performer even though it has no "M" in its name.

The engine and 6-spped manual transmisison are a pefect peering, only there is no mechanical limited slip differential but an ESP which always interferes with throttle and gas, lacks a bit of traction. But the power of the engine always preserves the enthusiam of driving one.

You have to get used to the new active steering whoch gives a preview on the future things to come from BMW.

The 335i is a true dream car, nothing else, the quickest coupe without the "M" in its name.

Acceleration 335i:
80-120km/h 4/5/6 gear: 5.5 s /6.5s / 7.9s
80-160km/h 4/5/6 gear: 11.4s/13,7s/16.7s
80-180km/h 4/5/6 gear: 14,8s/17,8S/ ---

M3
80-120km/h 4/5/6 gear: 5,2 s / 6,6 s / 9,5 s
80-160km/h 4/5/6 gear: 10,9 s / 13,9 s / 18,9 s
80-180km/h 4/5/6 gear: 14,1 s / 17,4 s / 25 s

C55
80-120km/h 4/5/6 gear: 6,3 s / 7,9 s / --- s
80-160km/h 4/5/6 gear: 12,8 s / 15,9 s / --- s
80-180km/h 4/5/6 gear: 16,3 s / 20,2 s / - s

It's a joke to buy a C55 AMG V8 5.4L and get smoked by a bimmer coupe without the M badge. This reminds me of the license plate a while ago:
AMG LOL

Counter what? 6.2L V8 vs. 3.0L inline 6 ? and what is the price? 2x more expensive than the 335. Somehow, bmw becomes superior to MB...

Only 4 seconds behind M3 on Nurburgring is pretty damn big achievement. That is really good stuff.

They had to build a car to stay on top for the next 7 years and they've done it.

the twin turbo just continues to impress. beating an amg without the m badge has got to raised eyebrows to mb. mb needs to double the displacement to beat a non-///M vehicle? cant wait to see what the E92 ///M3 has.

The difference between the C55 and the turbos at the Nordschleife versus Hockenheim is interesting. I wonder if the torque advantage accounts for the better performance of the C55 on the Nordschleife. I wish the magazines here in the US ran these comparisons.

And here is the most important adding!!!

This 335i was running on 17" Bridgestone runflat tyres, they say that this is not at all first choice( only 1,15 g), there is very much potential for better results.

If you would compare the 335i with 18 or 19" Michelin Pilot Sports (like M3), there is no chance for M3 anymore.

And by the way, that 335i engine of the Sportauto was the weakest, which was testet until now! (0-100km/h 5,6sec, others beetween 5,0 and 5,3(even automatic)!

So this makes the results even more fantastic!

Is that grip measured in the metric system or something? I can't think of any mass production car in the world that can pull 1.15G's.

Hmm?

Difficult question! M3 CSL has for instance the record with 1,4 g !!! (with original Pilot Sport Semislicks)
I dont know, 1 g is acceleration of 9,81 M/s2, so how do you mean this exactly?:

In the US, the magazines NEVER get a skidpad measurement like that, period - with the exception of race-prepped cars. It's obviously measured differently.
