**Soundclips (Full Supersprint Setup on 330i)

Sound clip.
http://www.technikpower.com/temp/e90SSclip.mp3

Fit and finish is great, install takes about 4-5 hours. However, I would caution anyone looking to do this mod to install catalytic converters around the same time. The ECU must "see" the cats, otherwise it will switch to lean burn and reduce power output, thereby negating the gain of the headers. Once we extend the sensors and let the ECU adapt, we'll run it on the dyno and post up the results.

Supersprint offers various different components for the E90's exhaust system, so we decided to us their header, s-pipe, x-pipe and rear muffler.

Instead of using the SS cat system, we added RT hi-flow cats.

You may want to look at this thread I made yesterday:

http://e90post.com/forums/showthread...t=euro+exhaust

Both Euro and US versions have cats on the exhaust manifold. The difference is that the Euro E90s have no cats beyond that, and the lambda probes have different part numbers.

Awesome sound btw. Is this Mike or Samir?

One more aside: on most cars I have installed a backpressure reducing exhaust on while leaving the sensors intact, the ECU always enriched the air/fuel mixture. Does this make sense?

The emissions will not be affected for a hot-test in terms of pass or no-pass, (if you use a set of aftermarket cats post-header). The secondary cats are mainly for cold-start purposes, which are not needed for a DMV-related test.

Yes, it has to. If it didn't richen up the mixture, the engine would run lean. The ECU is constantly analyzing the amount of O2 in the exhaust to keep things balanced. A performance mod like an exhaust/header system increases air flow and thus the ECU must add extra fuel to burn the extra air (this is how additional power is made). However, on the dyno, the AFR should look the same (stoich under part throttle and full rich under WOT), since the ECU is simply trying to maintain a preset mixture, regardless of how much more air is being introduced into the combustion chamber.

ps. this is Samir

Yes, but keep in mind these are LIST prices, as in MSRP from Supersprint. Dealers rarely sell at full pop.

Soon, once this heatwave subsides we'll get back on the dyno. It's been over 100 degrees in the pit the past week alone.

According to Technic, it should have no problems passing the "sniffer test."

As for warranty, this question pops up pretty often whenever mods are talked about. For fun you can do a Search for "affect warranty" and see what others have said. I believe the general consensus is that a cause and effect relationship between the mod and part failure must be established before a warranty is voided. For instance, I doubt BMW will refuse to fix defective brake calipers because you changed the exhaust. However, you might have a harder time having your O2 sensors replaced, if they are sitting atop aftermarket headers.
