Not to be a jerk, but don't be dissapointed if you don't see the increase in power that you expect. I've used K&N in the past without many changes.

Yeah, make sure you tell us about the 1HP gain at 8000RPM.
$600 makes it sound good though eh?

Congrats.
Power gains won't be much, but aren't we all buying intakes nowdays for better sound from the engine bay and great looks? If you like it, thats what matters. Make sure to POST VIDEO CLIPS!!!! Quote:

Bottom line is that the original poster bought something for $600 that will have absolutely no impact on performance, is hidden under the hood and may make the car sound a bit different - to someone who knows what it sounded like in the first place, and look different - to those who know what an E90 engine bay looks like. I'm am being critical, I'm telling you like it is. But I'm not 'hating' whatever the f**k that means. That's what this forum and others are for. Enjoy your intake.

and no that is not the bottem line. the original poster bought a performance mod for his car which prob will make a difference in his car- maybe it enough to "feel" the difference, who knows? but the point is hes modding because he wants to and not because he wants for you to approve of it. thats what people do. people like to personize their stuff. everything from the clothes you wear to your house. people make it their "own." by making mods to it. as much as you cant understand why people would spend so much money making mods to their own cars, i cant understand people who go out of their way to bring someone else down. he was excited and he posted his excitement. and we as a forum can benefit from him when he posts the quality and performace gains of the product, maybe there be any. to bring him down does nothing for our community and the bottom line is theres no point in posting to bring someone down. no offsense to you steve but if your going to be "critical" then be critical with a purpose. oh and BTW yes you are "hating" and yes you do know what that means. |

I agree with lux.
I dont think that zinco bought this thing expecting a 50 hp gain accrosss the entire range. Intakes are maily there for sound. I'm pretty sure BMWs intake and exhuast are pretty free flowing as is. The carbon fiber looks great in the pics. People are spending 500 on the front Carbon Fiber lips and I dont see any of you with the same reaction? Grouppe for 550, Eisman for 1000...these prices are a bit too much for me, but others are willing to pay. The last two videos in Dennis' thread show how different the sound really is....

Exactly. Its not about criticism anymore. Its about "this is the forum, so expect me to say crap to you" attitude.
