shot a 9mm Glock 17 today..

i dno.. it feels comfortable and n all that, but i think the Sig P226 is more easier to shoot.

whats your guys's take on these two guns? i know most people like the Glock cuz its the "cooler" gun, but i really think its not for everyone n the Sig p226 has its upsides

Has absolutely nothing to do with "cool", it's what you like the most. Try looking with the thinking process of "what feels best when I shoot, load, and hold"

Pretty different/dissimilar guns. The only real similarities are that they are both 9mm (assuming the P226 you shot was a 9mm version) and they are both full-size guns.

The Glock 17 is a relatively lightweight pistol with a polymer frame. It is striker-fired. The Glock should run you between $450-$550.

The Sig P226 has an aluminum frame, rather than a polymer frame, and the slide on the Sig is quite a bit thicker, making it a noticeably heavier pistol. Also, the Sig has a hammer and is a hammer-fired gun. The Sig has the capability of being fired both in single-action and double-action modes. The Sig should run you between $800-$1000.

Like others have said, because these guns are so different, it depends on what you think after shooting both.

Aside from what has been mentioned above(100% accurate BTW), the single biggest difference is the angle of the grip in relation to the slide. Glocks point high for me while Sigs point naturally. Sure, you can adjust and become competent with either, but I always go for the gun that feels the best while shooting. The difference in inherent accuracy of these guns is negligible.

Good to see the handgun thread still going strong.

I have added more 1911s to my collection: let's see if you guys know your 1911s

and my new carry gun (which is currently getting modified at Springfield's custom shop):

I'm itching for another gun, maybe a smaller gun than the EMP for summer ccw, but I just cant decide on which one. Anybody got experience with the Kahr PM9 or the Sig P238?

Thanks! And cant go wrong with a Wilson...or any of the big four for that matter (Baer, Brown, Nighthawk and Wilson).

I actually got a centennial Brown coming in 3 months to complete my dream of owning the big four

I carry the Kahr PM9 and could not be happier. It has a very nice trigger and and is very accurate in my hands. It is so small and concealable that I carry appendix with a galco IWB and can drive and ride a motorcycle.

Overall, a very nice handgun, especially for summer carry

nice

The last one is actually a CQB Elite though. I know the CQB can be ordered with a magwell, but this one has serrations on top and rear of slide, in addition to bulletproof parts (which cant be seen in the pic ). It's also hard chromed from the factory.

This is a very good point. I forgot to mention the unique grip angle on the Glock, which is pretty much a love-it-or-hate-it feature of Glock pistols. Whether you like the style of grip on a gun (considering factors such as angle, thickness, length, texture, etc.) will most definitely play a role in how comfortable you are shooting that gun and subsequently, how well you can ultimately shoot the gun.

immiketoo makes another good point about accuracy. Glocks, Sigs, XDs, M&Ps, etc. are all inherently accurate, well-manufactured guns. The reason why you may be more accurate/proficient with one of these guns over the other boils down to the Indian, and not necessarily the bow.

First of all: . Those are some nice 1911s you have there.

Secondly, regarding a smaller, summer-carry/pocket-carry type gun, I have not shot the Kahr PM9 or the Sig P238.

However, I personally pocket-carry a Ruger LCP with Crimson Trace and I am really quite fond of that gun. I even installed some upgrades on it such as a stiffer 13# Wolff recoil spring and a new B~T guide rod. I would definitely recommend you check one out.

Thanks for the info on the LCP. I was reading up on that too, as well as the Keltec version, but was reading too many reviews on much the recoil kicks hard as a mule! What's your take on this? I have a shot an XD subcompact (3" barrel) in 40s&w and that thing kicked! Reviews have the LCP being worst than that
