No EML and no codes and no change upon disconnecting egr?!

Egr question. 335d european version I tried unplugging and sealing the vacuum line going from pressure converter into egr to test how the car would behave. (suspected bad converter)
To my surprise 1. car behaviour didnt change at all 2. car didnt throw any codes? I expected EML to be honest but nothing?

What issue are you trying to diagnose?

The European M57 DDE doesn't monitor the position of the EGR valve, hence won't throw codes.

I think it still might based on MAF and O2 calculations.

Basicly this thread of mine:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1370958

tldr: 185k miles. Irritant feeling across the rev range, especially with light throttle. The smoothness and feel of low power is whats the real issue.
Changed vacuum lines, maf, transmission reworked, new torque converter, intercooler. Some of those things i did because the car needed it anyway(tranmission, intercooler looked gone)
I know im long overdue to getting some good live data and analyzing them..

Hmm i thought it still did somehow, based on this pic of mine maybe? Or is it just the "target" value?

While we are at it, any idea why 71% on idle?

I also have new o2 sensor but havent replaced it yet..

Friend of mine says o2 sensor is useless on the car if my dpf has been mapped out, is that true?

O2 sensor and egt #1 should still be in use and installed in a downpipe.

71% on idle is normal. To get the 325 mg/r airflow at idle, egr needs to be used to decrease the fresh air coming in. Without egr, you would have around 450 to 500mg/r.

I see, makes sense..

Well i guess egr couldnt have been mapped out then, so how am i not getting the code or eml?

Is it really the case it wont show on eu version?

Yes, that is implied by the documentation we've seen on the US/CA version, which mentions the use of electrical controls rather than vacuum. It's also implied by several other threads I've read vis-a-vis EGR valve operation.

So, today i tried driving home with ISTA monitoring active on my laptop..

I noticed the egr pulsing from 50% to 80% at constant throttle at intervals of maybe 1-2 seconds.

Later it did the same on idle. Of course Air mass was pulsing as well (actually the egr % might be calculated from the MAF itself so what does this tell us? )

It wasnt pulsing all the time tho, randomly started or stopped.

On idle this was accompanied by hard to notice pulsing noise somewhere near egr or at that side of engine.

Bad Pressure converter? Or more possibilities?

edit: this is with egr being plugged back in again
