The thing that bothers me sometimes is the "in-fighting" (actual word?). The way that some 335 owners try to bash on e46 M3 owners about how we can kill their car in a race, or some 335 owners rip on 328 owners because they don't "have enough power to hang with us".....stuff like that. Wait until more '08 M3's hit the streets. It will be more shite coming from 335 owners.
Don't get me wrong, it's really just a very small % of 335 owners that like to get the smackdown going. But why diss on other BMW owners at all. I mean hell, if you have to bash somebody, go after Audi or MB or Porsche. Why go after each other?

It still is, well at least I like to think it is? I love the 335 its a beast but honestly if I see another thread on "my 335 killed a m3" I'm gong to myself.

I think it all boils down to personality types. Unfortunately the 335i has attracted a fair amount of attention from the spoiled boi racers out there. Those types of people only live to serve themselves and damn everyone else. I also think a lot of people were "gifted" these cars and have little or no appreciation of what they actually have. Add to that the fact that this is all online and eveyone is hidden behind the world wide web. I guarantee if we had a regular meeting with the forum members things would be much more civil (after we beat down the haters that is )
I can't comment on why people bought the 335i, I can only comment on why I bought mine. I remember like it was yesterday. I took it for a test drive down a very wet Eastbound 520 and I had to do a panic stop in the middle of the freeway to avoid something. That car didn't even skid. ABS did not kick on, the car kept in it's lane. I had complete control over it at all times. Needless to say I fell in love with the handling, worksmanship and creature comforts much more so than the 0-60 performance. I would have gladly taken a 328, but I decided to spend a couple extra g's and treat myself to the turbos. Driving a BMW is unlike any other motoring experience. I've driven a lot of different cars prior to this one, some of them good, some of them bad but none were a BMW. |

True, in the beginning this was an incredible forum. It felt like the members all new each other. Much simpler times with only the 330 and 325. We also did not have the linked forums they have now, it was just e90post.

Its amazing isn't it? How two small turbos can generate so much hot air I'm speaking generally of course, I've come to know some really great guys that came along on that N54 wave...

To be honest, I find little to no use for most of the threads on this forum anymore. Too many of the same tired questions, too much "will my car beat a Ferrari", too much fanboism, too much bickering, too much "My dad can kick your dad's ass" type stuff. In the early days you could have a discussion and it didn't lead to "BMW Rules the world!!" or "Procede will cure world hunger!!" within 5 posts. The people had the level of respect for other things you see from true "car people" and didn't immediately bash something just because it didn't have a Roundel on it. Most of all, way too much Kool-aid drinking now a days, been a long time since I've seen this many Lemmings in one place. It's been a while since the good "vibe" that existed in the early day has been around. Don't plan on it seeing it come back. |
