The back of the new 'vette is just awful in my eyes, but then again that's why it's called personal opinion

I like the overall lines of the C5, it's just very smooth. Didn't say anything about the car itself. Since inception the car has always been about smooth curves. Even in the 80's when most cars were pretty damn square, the 'vette retained the smoothness. The blockiness of the new one makes me think that the damn thing is about to fold out into optimus prime or some shit. The tail-lights add to that; they didn't have to retain the circles, but they could have gone with something less ridiculous. And the exhaust, as mentioned, is god-awful.

Still, it's going to be a great car. All I'm saying is I'm not the biggest fan of the design, same as with a lot of GM cars lately. I like what Ford is doing to reinvent its styling more. I know I'm in a minority, but I'm not alone. A friend who owns a Cobalt SS and just loves just about everything GM was the first to show me the pics, saying "WHAT HAVE THEY DONE!?"

No, you're not.

This car won't age well, it's typical of GM design, too much immature "look at me" styling which doesn't age well.

The new Corvette was also revealed somewhere else today.

I might be going against the grain here, but I love the new modern Vette, and I definitely see the Vette lineage being displayed, especially from the 3/4, and side views.

That's why it'll probably be my next car.

Despite what people might think, the Camaro is a styling success, mostly because it brings a lot of attention on the street and in the showroom. It was drawing attention away from potential Corvette buyers as well. People were just bypassing the 'Vette for the cheaper Camaro because it looked cooler. The C7 had to straighten that out.

The only part that really looks foreign to me is the large gash on the front fender. It is just out of place and doesn't flow with any other line on the car. It's like a ninja just rolled up and cut it. I was just discussing the looks with a coworker who is not really into cars and I showed him the Ferrari F12 that I think this car strongly resembles and he was shocked. It's like a cheap American knockoff of the Italian beauty.

In GM's own design clinics, customers preferred the C7's interior to the R8 two-to-one, and they skewed four-to-one over that of the 911. Importantly, however, that A:B testing dates from the last-generation Porsche and the pre-facelift Audi (which didn't really change all that much). We should have a better idea of how we feel about the new digs after locking ourselves inside of a display car for a while at the reveal event or down on the Detroit Auto Show floor.
I guess Corvette haters/Euro Fanboys will have to find something else to diss the Vette about.

I want one. Bad. Z51 package, black with black wheels.

Might have to wait a couple years for a used one though.

They're both smoking, regardless.

I'm not talking about the fact that they're both red and front engined and RWD. I'm talking about the fact that the aesthetic similarities are dramatic and obvious. I don't know of any other car that physically resembles the F12 to this extent. The vent locations and shape, the window shape, the front grille design, the center vent in the hood. From the side and front, they are very similar in appearance, although one is a gorgeous curvy supermodel and the other one... isn't.

You drive a 1-series and call this new interior lacking? Sorry, but compared to any other BMW, the 1-series' hard plastic interior pieces feel very cheap to me and not up the BMW standards in any way.
BTW: The only 1-series I've been in was a 1M. No, the two or three place they put alcantara don't hide the hard plastic that's all over the place.

I always heard this criticism of the 1er interior but when I would get 328s for loaners, I noticed no major differences in interior quality or texture.

One complaint, I read that they are retaining the damn leaf springs, not that they don't work as intended, and probably save weight but...

You know the leaf springs are transverse, not lateral, right?
