Motor Trend previews the 2008 Corvette

For once they actually seem to like a Corvette that doesn't have a Z06 badge..

Looks good. What's up with this picture, though? The gear shift knob looks weird, like it's reversed or something. It doesn't look like 1-2-3-4-5-6-R are in the right place, or maybe my eyes are funny.

Very nice, but not my taste. Having my choice between that or a 335i I'd have to chose the 335i. I do like Corvettes though. I feel they're one of the only good American cars out there. If I were so inclined I could Procede the 335i and be as fast as the C6, plus far more luxurious. Of course, Corvette wins in the handling department. Wonder how the 2008 M3 would compare up with the new 2008 C6?

A Procede 335i is quick but it's just almost as fast as a stock C6 and it takes little $$ worth of mods to put the C6 out of reach again. In the hands of equal drivers a stock C6 should not lose to a 335, even a modded one. As far as luxury goes, speaking as someone who owns both cars, there isn't a big difference. The E90/91/92's aren't exactly a Lexus or high end MB when it comes to luxury.

The M3 and C6 should be close but unless the M3 surprises us all and runs 4.0-4.1 0-60's and low 12's in the 1/4 it's going to lose the straight line races. On a track I would expect the race to be close but it will be interesting to see how they do against each other. Should be some good races.

You talking about the top left on the shifter? That does look like an upside 6 but the shift knob is shaped correctly and reverse is in the right place. Weird.

Agreed and cool to see another C6 and 335 owner ... Both are great in their own way, both have an addicting feel and both drive totally different ... good to have both

I gotta say in the morning when looking in the garage it is a REALLY tough choice which one to drive

Good question. I would imagine the C6 would be a little faster (more torque 350lbs lighter (more aggressive gearing???)). Of course the most appropriate comparison is the Z06 vs the new M3. The prices match up better.

Good point in terms of price but if that's the contest there isn't one. Seeing as how the Z06 is running neck and neck with GT3's and the like, the new M3 has no chance against a Z06.
