I think "shopvac"? Has a really nice setup.

I'm still a noob, but I have a 90gal mixed reef, 30gal sump, coralife skimmer, couple hydor power heads, current-USA 48" 6-bulb T5 fixture, maybe 50lbs live rock, 3-4" sand bed. Several corals and 12 or 13 fish. I don't have any pics worth sharing.... It's a work in progress.

I want to upgrade my sump to a refugium, my lights to led (kessil perhaps), and my power heads to vortech mp40's.

I bought my setup used from a guy that owns an aquarium maintenance business.

Wife just picked me up a moon light controller that mimics the 29 day lunar phase and some Hanna test equipment for calcium, alk, and phosphates.

Other than that, I just got a new Reeflo Snapper pump, but I need to redo my sump to drill in some 2" lines coming out. So a lower overhaul is coming soon.

This was my 90 back in the day...which was an LPS dominant mixed reef

To see much of the progression between the 90 and 200, I have this site (which needs updated)

Damn. All you're missing is a flux capacitor and a tetryon particle generator.

OP,

Look at a larger tank. As odd as it sounds, it will make your life easier. Pick the right equipment the first time, you will be happy you did.

I have gone from a 29G to a 125G in the last 19 months.

just snapped a couple pictures of my retarded clownfish. I give them the anemone, they choose not to use it. I've even tried holding a picture of a clown in some anemone up the the glass, yet nothing. They'll host anything but...

You guys ever watch that show Tanked? They do some cool designs, but I can only imagine how many fish they kill by filling a new tank and stocking it right away. I'm sure the stuff they do for the show is just for the show and that the last minute crisises are for added drama.

I've seen a couple of their tanks on ebay for that very reason. Then some of the buyers don't realize how expensive maintenance companies are. Once your tank is up and running it isn't bad. I spend about an hour a week on it and then 5 to 10 minutes a day feeding and observing.

Check out premiumaquatics.com for dry goods. They are local to me and by far the best prices.

From what I read...they have some chemical that can do an instant cycle on the tank, which makes it safe for the fish.

I'll watch the show to see what they are doing...but I'm not a fan of the fake coral bit. I bet all those ornaments they put in the tank gets a healthy coat of slime after 2 months.

They are nice tanks, the stock lights can grow some soft corals, but you will need a full redo for SPS.

I have been in the hobby for over 20 years...and am now selling my latest tank a 57 gallon rimless tank and all equipment since I am moving to NY. I have had reef tanks from 10 gallon to 400 over the years...I will see if I can dig up any pictures of some of my tanks.

When I had the 400, I had over 300 SPS corals in it with a dinner plate size blue haddoni carpet anemone with a mated pair of saddle back clowns...

I am going to miss it for sure!

I used to have a Reef Tank, until Super storm sandy killed it...I plan on getting back into it as soon as I can convince myself to spend thousands on it again..

Great hobby, very under appreciated..most people glance at the tank and have no idea how much work (and $$) goes into it..

I started this tank with the intention of not getting very far with it..but it lasted around 3 1/2 years...I would never do it again in a 55g Tank, I ran a basic wet/dry filter, protein skimmer and Phosban reactor...2 150w Metal Halides. Next investment would have been a chiller. This tank is going back 8 years when LED lighting was big bucks..another big thing is the amount of electricity used to run a tank, I had 3 - 6 packs with almost every outlet being used..

I miss the hell outa it..couple years ago I started a NANO tank, but just not the same..go big or go home..

I have countless pictures, but I'm not going to bore everyone with them..

Thanks for looking..

Thread revival. This year I downsized to a 30 gal. So much easier to deal with. Pretty basic stuff and am still building it up--I have had many tanks and specimens for the last 20 years and at this point just want a small system and limit deaths.
