Sore Throat After Taking Optimum Casein

Anybody else having a sore throat in the morning after taking casein before bed? Could it be an allergic reaction to the casein?

Indications of a reaction appear within seconds to minutes. Signs are visible on the skin in the form of rash, hives and itchiness. Swelling of face, lips and tongue are possible. Symptoms can escalate to anaphylactic reactions with constriction of the throat. Individuals may lose blood pressure or consciousness. Up to several hours or a day later, symptoms may still be present. This includes vomiting, diarrhea and/or stomach cramps.

I had some issues with digestion when I first took cassein but it cleared up in a couple days... Just stop taking cassein until your throat clears up then try again. If it recurs then maybe you need to switch brands or drop it altogether...

I've been taking ON casein before bed for the last 3 months and have had no issues. I'm also lactose intolerant, which usually cause stomach issues (for me) with regular whole milk products.

Food intolerances to milk proteins are very common. Eliminate the casein at night and see if the symptom remains or subsides. You could also run a food intolerance lab.

In addition, keep in mind the additives put in many of these powders, the product's origin, and how it is processed.

Generally drinking milk before bed is not good and will prolly end up making your throat hurt in the morning due to the bacterias in milk... this has happened to me before as well.. are you mixing the casein with milk? try water - it'll do the same job since its casein and not whey, or..you can try just drinking some water immediately after taking the protein to clear your throat. that should work as well

Took half a serving before bed last night then woke up around 4 am and took the rest...and no sore throat. Took it with milk too. I like the idea of taking it with water, maybe adding milk to it is overkill.

I might just have had a preexisting condition or something. Thanks guys.
