Angel eyes and rear lights turning on?

I was playing around with my headlights and started the car with headlight control being set to 0. When I turned on the engine my angel eyes and rear lights still turned on. It’s a silly thing, but I am wondering if this is how it’s supposed to be? If I then switch to say automatic setting and then back to 0 my lights do go off.

So with your engine on, your lights will stay on until you move the switch from 0 to A?

No, if I start my car with the switch being in 0 my angel eyes still come on. I have never noticed this in my F33, but I guess this is normal.

by design.
angel eyes == DRL (Daytime running lights).
you can switch it (DRL) on/off in the iDrive.

NB: I actually coded tail lights to come up with angel eyes as DRL on all my E-series BMW.
Tail DRL are country-specific, perhaps your BMW came from the region where tail DRL are required

Sounds like he or she is saying the angel lights turn off when the switch is moved from auto to 0.

This is what I was looking for. I started to think that I had some problems with electronics, but after some further digging realised that it is designed to be like that. Pretty interesting, one would think that 0 = all lights off. Thanks
