Quik Rant. I need my balls back!

I promised my girlfriend I would go with her to Vans Warp Tour. Its an outdoor music type festival where several rock bands play, yadayadayada, not really my thing.

Turns out NAGA ( which is a Brazilian JiuJitsu and Submission Grappling tournament) lands on the same day, JULY 21st. I bought the Vans tickets months ago, and the girlfriend would kill me. I really wanna compete considering it would be my first time NOT fighting under Novice and would actually compete under Intermediate. Ugh. I obviously can't go, but man, how I wish I could.

Been with my girlfriend for 5 years, so please don't suggest to cut her loose.

If she knows you, then she would understand that you dont like music festivals(especially after being with her for 5 yrs). She should also respect whats most important to you and it seems like this fighting thing is it.

She will most likely have no problem finding someone else to go to the concert with her. I feel that she wouldnt want you to go to the fighting tournemant because shes worried youll get hurt, which is legit.

It seems theres a breakdown in communications that you have to(after 5 yrs with the same person) think that you cant respect each others desires.

Naw man, nothing like that. I run a few miles each morning, go to work for the majority of the day, go to gym and weight train, then after that train in class. I never hear a peep out of it. Its just that this time, I promised I would go, and I promised it way before I knew the date of this NAGA competition.

Like I said, its a quick rant. After all, these competitions come a few times a year where as Vans Warp Tour is once a year and I've decliend goign now for 2 years. Maybe it means I'm getting more mature now right? I mean I could be selfish and just ditch the festival and comptete, or I could be an adult and go with my girl and try to have a good time, for her.

Aww man, I think I need a MIDOL...

I say stick with the festival since it was your original plan and you promised. Now, had you known about the competition before buying the tickets, you would've had a better chance imo.

what about half and half? Go to the Festival for about an hour (or 1.5 hours) and then go to the fight.

I'd do the half and half thing and leave her at the concert (her brother is going too, so i have no issues leaving her with him), except that the weigh ins begin at the same time the festival begins (10ish) and the intermediates fight somewhere around 3-4pm and the place is like 90 minutes away.

I'll go to the festival just to keep her happy. After all, like japac said, keeping her happy, keeps me happy.

i say stick with the girl. she obviously wants you to go bad enough even though she probably knows you don't like that kind of stuff. Seems like it would mean a lot to her. You're trapped my E90post friend.

My advice is to someone drop a hint that this Naga event is going on. Don't mention anything about it because she won't like the guilt trip. This just gives you extra leverage the next time you want to do something but she wants to go to the ballet.

Should you decide to go to the concert(you probably should, and it sounds like you have) DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES make any mention of the competition you are missing En Route to or at the Concert. That will surely start a fight, and make what will most likely be a very painful experience that much worse...

idk the geography of florida to well but why not suprise her and take her to the concert tom in st petersburg or the 22nd in orlando, its the best of both worlds if you guys are flexible enough
