I cant believe this happened in Germany....When I initially read the post, I thought that it is in USA.
A few things tho:
- You need to slow down a bit (just a bit)
- That guy needs to go check himself
- Dont drive "crazy" with your kid inside the car
- If that dude keeps on calling you an ashole and tells you that he is going to call the police, tell him to call his mother, father, grandmother, and the Pope if he wants to.

He was right. You got caught being an asshole. Happened to me in the M3 more than once. Try to use it as a learning experience and simply slow down. I drive quite a bit slower now myself. I find it generally better to drive normally, draw less attention and live longer. Killing some kid on the side of the road or causing an accident with another car just isnt good karma. Generally speaking.

I do the same thing, accept that I take it a few steps farther. I also follow that person home and take a dump on their front porch, ring the doorbell, and grab their wife's boobs. I know it seems extreme, but they need to learn that I own the fast lane and if they want to drive faster than 75mph, well they'll just have to race me to do it!

For those of you who think a citizen who complains to the police will not end up with you getting a ticket, you could find yourself being sorely wrong.

I am not sure about about outside the US, but in the US many states allow citizen to perform a "Citizen's Arrest" in this case a ticket. Any person can walk into a police station and request a citation be issued. As long as they have all the necessary information you can get a ticket.

Narrow Twisty Road and You said yourself that you are driving too fast on it?

Sounds like the dipshit might have had a point... Find a different route to wherever you are going or grow up. Road rage and impatience kill, not a myth.

I’m driving too aggressively and need to back off and slow down.
You know what's right because you have already said it in your post. You were driving too fast. You know that. I give you respect for bringing it to the forum and dealing with it. I've done it and I guarantee you there are others on here who can relate to your post cause they've done it too. We all benefit from you bringing it here. That's being responsible and doing right by yourself, your son and other people on the road.

That is not the way you talk to someone and I do not respond to that well. That only makes me want to pass him going so fast that his car lurches.

Anyway, I’m not sure what the whole point of this thread is. Other than maybe to discover if I truly turned into a dreaded Bimmer asshole…or maybe have been one all along.

Thoughts?
I'm sure you understand the guy was angry because he felt you were being a threat to him and others on road. I think you handled that in a good way. You didn't react by meeting his anger with anger. He walked away and you drove away without anyone being harmed. There is nothing undignified about that at all. You were being responsible. After all you had your kid in the car and what would be served by letting the situation escalate into a violent confrontation. I suspect you need to hear that since you question the fact that you didn't have a good come back for the guy when he called you an asshole. If it helps just know I think you definitely handled that the right way. You get my respect for that too.

Do you move over to the right and let people pass? That's how it's supposed to work you know?

True, but what do you do when you come upon someone doing 65-70mph in the fast lane? Do you happily slow down to their speed, or do you expect them to get over?

You are the type of driver that gives BMW drivers a bad name...think you're king of the road, show no respect for other drivers, and act like all other drivers are not people but merely a hindrance on your way to work. Slow down and have some respect.
You just stepped out of line my friend. ONe thing to tell him to slow down, another to say it the way you did. So now you just sound like an asshole calling someone an asshole.

The guy insulted you. It is a road rage. Right or wrong you can't tell another person how to drive. It is job for police.
We have plenty of a-holes here in Canada driving at or below speed limit in the left lane. I have strong desire to pass them on the right (which I do) and test brake them or stop and call them names, but I don't do that because I have no right to teach other people how to drive.
The guy is an a-hole himself and was looking for a fight, otherwise he would just call to police.

That is why I bought the 335i coupe, so all you left hand lane cruisers can't do that to me, cause I just pull into the right lane/middle lane, down shift and , then pull in front of you and poof, your crown is gone

Really, they *must* move to the right? Didn't know that.

So, if you are going 75mph in the fastlane, and I come up behind you at 85mph and flash my lights at you, then you are going to get over for me?

But what if they, like you when you are in that situation, don't want you to pass? What if they speed up so you cannot pass?

This is a tough one, because whether we like to admit it or not, we all like to drive fast in our cars. We've all hit 90 without even knowing it. Street racing on the other hand is a whole other story, and should never be tolerated.

In this case, this is a calculated risk not worth taking. Especially with your child in the car. I'd say the gentleman is doing yourself, and everyone else on the road a favor. Put yourself in his shoes, how would you feel if you were doing 90 (w/ you child), and he passed you going 120 on that same road.
