Minimum ticket fines went way up here, too. And now 30+ over is now punishable by jail time. I guess when they let all the pushers and other cons out last year because of overcrowding, they went too far and need to fill the prisons with speeders.

Are these fines including all the fees?? Because a speeding ticket is like $60 but after all the fees it goes up to like $270. I hope those amounts are including all fees, or else a $214 speeding ticket will be $1000+ after fees.

If you're planning going to traffic school, then add $60 on top of $298.00 and pay addition to the online traffic school you've selected. My wife just got pop for making a u-turn on a business street, her fine was $300 plus $60 for requesting the court for traffic school and $28 for online traffic school. Total $388

My last ticket was for carpooling. $506 bucks. I went to court and the judge lowered it to $300.

Tickets aren't cheap nowadays.

Is that for driving on the carpool lane when you only have 1 person?

the entire concept for fines in ANY state baffles me. My fine for doing 40 over is almost exactly the same as a fine for 5 over. I fully believe my 40 over should have had a hell of a lot of a heftier fine. (this is quite a few years ago now)

40 over in Cali gets you arrested and your car impounded. Some places have it worse. Just be thankful your state hasn't caught up to the bullshit yet lol

yea PA still has a 'cops discretion' aspect to that. They could have arrested me and took my license on the spot. luckily he didn't.

I'm really hoping we don't become like england and all that other shit, that will piss me off to no end, I like driving. If I have a car that can safely go 85 in a 75, moreso than that POS 15 year old kia going 75 in a 75....I should be able to, without fear of a $1000 fine, etc.

(40 over is excessive, won't deny that )

Mandatory GPS tracking is coming. Mark my words. The war on speed will continue to heat up until the next logical step is universal GPS tracking. You could be in the middle of nowhere speeding and you'll still get a ticket. The safety nazis are winning.

Yes sir, I mean, I knowingly drove in it so I can't blame anyone but myself. But I was quite shocked to see how much that ticket was. Come on, this violation doesn't really endanger anyone's life, yet they charge more for it than if I went 90 in a 65.

if you're going 55 on the speedo in a 50 zone, it's not actually 55 right?

how the hell will they prove this?

I know that you can easily get someone for doing 10 over... but 5? or 1?!

what's the fine for running

so we don't have that 3 mph leeway anymore? iirc you're allowed to be within 3 mph of speed limit. so 53 in a 50 is ok.
