If you two have only been going out for a month, I wouldn't even bring up the exclusive topic. At that point you're still finding out about each other before going steady. I am a believer in dating one girl at a time so if she's dating multiple guys at once, I wouldn't waste anymore time on her.

IMO, unless you only go out with girls with the intention to sleep with them, you shouldn't be dating more than one. This is why shows like the Bachelor is not very realistic. It is entertaining but fake at the same time.

It can go both ways, pun intended. I was clueless when I was younger, but I learned relationships are better when you're dialed in. However, there are people who compliment each other and have a healthy relationship, my parents do. That's an older generation though.

I personally would rather have someone that challenges me, so I'll stay on my toes and it keeps things interesting, I like a good cat and mouse game every now and then. I think people run off and cheat when they're bored with what they have and too lazy to fix it. I've never been cheated on, so there's always been unspoken mutual trust with all of them... for now at least.
