New Vehicle, road trip.

I posted a thread in the OT about this, but i figured you guys may appreciate the pics as well.

I picked up a new Range Rover Sport supercharged and promptly plotted a road trip to the high alpine loop in Southwestern Colorado.

My father spent 2 weeks every summer in Colorado with his parents as kid. So he and i went out there and visited some of his old stomping grounds. Of course i took some pictures along the way.

We went from FL to Longview TX, to Santa Fe NM, to Durango CO, to Silverton CO, to Telluride CO, to Gunnison CO, to Pueblo CO, to Little Rock, and back to FL. About 4400 miles in total over the course of 8 days. It was a pretty awesome trip. We even traveled some of old RT66 in NM.

It's hard for me to imagine a better road trip vehicle. Quite, comfortable, able to hit 135mph effortlessly while feeling solid and can then traverse Rocky Mountain trials rated for high clearance 4x4 vehicles only. I'm really liking it so far.

Most images were taken with 5DII and 24-70L. Others were taken with rebel T3i and kit lens and of course a phone pic or two.

Pick up day.

Heading up one of the passes.

Road down the back side of the mountain.

If you look close you can see people rafting in the river.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun. Kind of a whirl wind trip, considering we didn't stay in one place for more than a night.

Came back with a 2 week old vehicle showing 4700 miles on the odo.

Thanks! I wasn't happy about being under that huge piece of granite. Especially since the road gets narrower there.

But many of the roads were like this one.

That shelf road reminds me of the road we took to Handies Peak from Lake City, CO.

Brings back great memories!

Nice pics, Joe! Looks like it was an awesome trip... love the RR too.

That video reminds me of some roads that I drove through across Norway. A little stressful, but still a lot of fun!

My friend just picked up a Range Rover Autobiography. I fell off my chair how expensive those things are.

$185,000...

What does your friend do?

Man that's impressive. If I had the means to spend that much on a car (hint: I don't ) I'd shamelessly want to get something a little more flashy. From what I can tell the autobiography version looks basically the same as the regular $85,000 version, at least to the casual observer. Most of the upgrades are inside it appears....

Sells wood floors. This is just one of his toys though (he's got two others), so he's covered from the flash perspective. Here she is, took it a few days ago when we went for a bike ride. It literally has every single option. The stereo is probably the single-most impressive stereo I've ever heard in a vehicle.

That's funny, i'm in the floor covering business as well.

The ATB full size RR is total luxury. Like up with Maybach luxury.... that you can take off road. The Premium Meridian stereo option was over $6k.

They have standard, signature meridian, and premium meridian sound options. I went with the little boy upgrade. Just couldn't justify $6k on a non custom stereo / infotainment system. I've been told it's no joke. I refused to listen to it in one of the demo vehicles because i didn't want to fall in love with an option that i was already decided against.

He said it had 29 speakers and 1,700 watts. I thought he was bullshitting me, so I looked online. He was telling the truth. I got back in my X5 and it was like going from a being first class Qatar Airlines to a paper aeroplane. Ugh.
