Its not that difficult for a manufacturer to put force induction on a small displacement engine and make lots of power; they have a lot of knowledge and a large parts bin at their disposal.
The real question is can they actually extract that much power without detonation using 87 octane with small displacement/FI, I could see them making 360 hp with a 6.0L NA engine using 87 octane.
