I'm leaning more toward financing after looking at these numbers on a hypothetical M4. Thoughts? Lease costs $3k more! But do have less worry about the impact an accident could have on value.
Lease VS Finance total cost if planning to sell car after 3 years: Lease cost to buy or sell vehicle 925.28 (12k miles/year) x 36 =33,310.08 Lease buyout if selling car= 44,061, so total car purchase expense=77,371.08 Finance cost to buy or sell vehicle: Sale price: 71,250 plus 500 doc fee plus 300 sales tax-- 72050 Minus 1000 coupon 71,050 financed over 72 months at 2.24% 1055.52 x 36= 37998.72 Balance of loan payoff if selling car at 3 years=36,347.77 Total car purchase expense=74,346.49 Finance total payoff (assuming I sell the car after 3 years) is $3024.51 cheaper than had I leased the car. |

I was planning on leasing my car. I had planned on putting 10k down to get my monthly lower. I then made the choice to also max out my security deposits @ $7000 to get my MF down to 00124. they're only offering me the .00173 money factor to begin with and this could be the cause of it all, they say they're not offering the .00130 or .00133 at all period. So I'm already thinking this is a lot of money to come outta the pocket with. Cost of my build:$81,500, 58% 10,000 miles and he's telling me my payments gonna be $997.56 total monthly.
Found a better deal 5k down 925. a month I was gonna have to spend 17k down w/BMWFS and still have a higher payment.I probably would've leased with they offered me the base Money factor

Cash, it's just how I roll. Haven't had a car payment in 15 year so can't see why I'd want to start now. Never understood why anyone would lease, but I get it for guys who're constantly wanting something different.

When I ordered I told them I had intended to lease. A month later I'm now approved for financing and the car is coming within the week.
I don't see how leasing makes any sense right now with the rates out there. If you put $0 down so in the lease you'd roll in the acquisition fee & doc fee (which for me would be a grand all together), the payments would be around $960 (I'm in OH so the monthly tax payment is based off of 6.5% in my area). Financing @ 2.69% for 72 months with say $0 down the payments would be $100 more. And in 3 yrs the balance of the finance would be $5k less than the residual on the lease. And we all know a 3 year old M in the 30 thousands is pretty easy to sell in the 40s I feel.. I don't plan on selling though.. It's an M. I definitely plan to keep it for at least 5 years. Perhaps until the next M3 comes out. |

Yeah but ~$1400 is a decent amount of money, considering that savings over 3 years.
Sure if you get in an accident & have it properly repaired you might not be able to sell it for as much as you'd like but I'm sure it'd still be above the balance at the time. Just my thoughts I guess.. But I intend to pay it off for once in my life. |
