Post IS350 beats M3 ?????

Sorry if this question seems stupid but I was just snooping around the lexus forums (dont ask why), and came upon a thread where a guy is claming that he could take a m3 around corners with his lightly modified setup. He's got Enkie RPF1 wheels and Tein Coils ss wich to me would be beat even by a 335i. So my question is 1) would it be at least competative to an M3 and 2) if this setup were to be done to a 335i would it drasticly improve handiling since a stock IS30 has nothing on any bmw when it comes to corners.

its a "bigger dick" contest over there man. All IS owners strive to beat BMW when deep down they know that they have no shot and need a whole community of people to boost each other's egos

Exactly - the lexus guy's claim is so lame anyway, I don't think people here would/should even respond to it...

Coils vs standard suspension? sure it's possible. Why are you so surprised, they are not comparing apples to apples.

A 1987 DTM E30 M3 can take a brand new Lambo Gallardo around corners too...

I test drove the IS350 back when i still had my M3, you are going to have to do a lot more than suspension to keep up, you have other factors such as camber and chassis stiffness which the M3 has the IS beat. When test driving the IS it felt sloppy and disconnected along with the fact that the computer seemed to hold it on course.

But also you have to ask was this on a track?

I like the end of this Edmunds review (prior to 335 launch):

But in the End
In fact, if you were to ask us, "What's the most advanced, refined and confident sport sedan under $40,000 today?" we'd very likely tell you it's the Lexus IS 350. And if you then asked us, "Which modern sport sedan would you most like to own and drive?" we'd tell you "The BMW 3 Series."

A very solid, capable and desirable luxury sedan the IS 350 is. And if you simply focus on acceleration numbers, you could even say it's "the new standard of class-leading performance." Now, where are the BMW keys?

I dont think the IS350 is even an M3 competitor, wait till the IS-F is out, then we can properlly compare the M3 vs. RS5 vs. IS-F....

^^ Good call. The IS X50 are still targeted towards the 3 Series. The IS-F is the M3 killer.

i just finish reading that tread, Funny how you can't explain more about his post but instead you making it sound like a racing thread. He got that setup for TRACK use not a 1/4. The only thing he say was he can beat the m3 is corner not a striaght line.....Please read and comprehend...I am sure if a 335i with a good suspension setup can beat a stock m3 also in cornering.

a toyota prius could beat an M3 around the corners if the driver in the M3 was crappy enough.

it's not just the car people, there is a factor of driver skill in there

a well driven IS350 could certainly get away from a M3, no question about that.

I dont understand....some cars finish a track faster by 0.00000001 sec and make it sound so important
If the car is UGLY...I dont give a dawm if it goes 0-60 in 2.0 sec
