My dream was to be a rich kid... I failed because my parents didn't try hard enough.

I have a "friend" that is a part of this:

-21 years old (looks 16)
-rents a loft in Pasadena for $3k month
-has a '14 audi RS5 AND '14 RR Autobiography paid off
-$10k month allowance
-doesn't work
-student at our local city college

This is from the few times I've hung out with him. He says he's broke compared to his friends.

I believe there was a study that 100% of the people that did business in China 10 years ago are multi-millionaires. They are literally buying all the property here in cash.

I highly doubt it as he only has hung out with me to try to copy my "swag". He tries to learn the street lingo from me, what music to listen to, how to dress etc... Guess he's just tryna fit in, whatever that may mean nowadays.

In return I borrow his cars from time to time and act like they're mine

I bought my e60 M5 from someone like this 4 years ago. The kid was studying at SMCC and was moving back to China permanently, so he sold it to me for a good price. He also had a GTR he was unloading for a good price too.

You got it wrong man. These kids are spending their parents' money. And chances are most of them will be more successful than you and me simply because of the starting capital they can afford.

This is nothing new and has been going on for years in Socal.

Oh, I don't disagree that they have more starting capital (if they choose to use it wisely), but I don't understand how I'm wrong? All I was stating was that these kids are going to have their parents move in when they are older (which is typical for Asian families as I understand - the kids take care of their parents when old, and vice versa, the parents spend hugely when kids are young trying to give them the best start...which may contribute to their need to move in with their kids when old as they don't have any money left?).

So not sure how I'm wrong? My point is, I'd prefer not to babysit elderly parents for years on end just to have a head start now. I'm doing ok right now (and I love my parents - I just don't think I'd want them living with me 24/7) so I don't begrudge these kids their opportunities. Focus on doing the best you can with what you have...not what others have. Otherwise you are just going to be miserable, cause there's always someone who has more.

There are rich international students or international kids relying on their parent's money everywhere. It's not just from China. I've seen rich kids from Dubai, Egypt, Persia driving exotic cars in college.

Too Lowball

Lambo? Ferrari? Bentley? This is what happens if they goto crappy city college!
If they went to school like MIT or Cal Tech, they could've gotten General Dynamics Gulfstream G550.

I am in 30s, and I just text my mom:
"Mom, if I go to University of Chicago for Economics, can you buy me a
Bell 430 with full time pilot, hanger, helipad on my back yard?"

"Mom, WHAT if I go to Northwestern for Economics, can you buy me a
Robinson R44 with full time pilot, hanger, helipad on my back yard?"
