911S

I love my M3, but the new 911S is devastating. Perfection in many ways. Here's a series of photos I took on Hwy 74, near Palm Springs CA. Taken with my Leica M240, 75mm Summicron and 28mm Elmarit.

That road looks amazing; gotta say though and I may be alone on this, but I prefer the 997. New cars are getting bigger and bigger and the 991 is no exception. I can't get used to the smaller rear lamps also. Don't get me wrong I would drive one every day, but I prefer the cars of older. All cars too. Seems newer cars are getting fitted with too much tech and other gadgets that just kill resale as people are afraid of them secondhand and they loose the "driver centric" experience.

Give me a car w/ power windows, radio and AC and I'm set.....

Okay, rant over. Nice pics!

My good buddy has got a red/black/6MT aero pack 991 C2S and it's a great car. I will say though it does feel like a big car (which is not what you associate the 911 to be). But my god, that interior is so nice. And so are the brakes. And so is the clutch and transmission.

It is another level compared to the M3, but that also includes the price. nice pick up and that road looks incredible.

Wow that looks like fun. Did you run into any cops on that road or can you blast through.

Does your M3 have iDrive? The interior of the 991 is actually for more simple then a M3 with iDrive since in the 991, its has a button for pretty much everything. So its interesting you say that…I have a 991 C4S but had a e90 before.

You mean he has the 7mt, right? As much as Porsche makes the best manual out there, the PDK is just something else, esp in the GT3. The car is just mated to the PDK as good as any car out there and really adds even more to the experience IMO over the 7mt.

Great car is an understatement as the 991 is the single best non hyper car sports/exotic on the market and the biggest game changer since the last 911.

You're the only person I've ever heard say it felt big, bc its not by any stretch. Its 3300 lbs and drives like a 3000 lbs car.

The M3 must feel like an 18 wheeler by comparison then if the 991 felt big.

Just a cool stat, the 991 was the only car on MTs best drivers car that had roll of under 1% on cornering. No other car was under 2%, and I'm pretty sure the m3 wouldn't even be in the 2% range.

OP - Congrats on the car!

There is just not a bad angle for that car, and those wheels! Great shooting btw. I have never shot with a Leica but always wanted to (the $$$$ :/). I am hoping the recent offerings of full-frame rangefinder sized cameras will lead to some actual competition in that market space, but it will always be tough to beat that glass.

It's a 7spd and I don't care how good the pdk is I would be extremely bored with it after the first couple weeks, I didn't buy the car to drive itself. As for the big comment it does feel big for its size. The cayman feels like a small car when your in it, the 911 on the other hand doesn't. You will be at a stop light next to a random four door car and your not looking up at them like you would in a sports car but looking face level with them. Now don't get me wrong the balance and feel of the car is second to none but it is not the end all be all of cars like you make it out to be.
