Navy family here. Much respect for anyone who dons a uniform for duty and country. Much thanks this season

Yeah, not very long, but she is a cool girl. Very true, and I'll be all good.

Haha, that is a good point.

Yes, a classic! Though given the average age on this board, not sure how many will even know what WKRP was...

But over the past few years, we haven't really had anybody over (at least not as much), so it just doesn't seem as enjoyable.
If it is within your power, I'd advise on making the effort to invite some family over (if there are no problems). Don't let the extended family drift apart!

Trips? Staying a home? Going to Denny's by yourself to cry in to a glass of lukewarm coffee?

Also, every year as we engage in our National Turkey purge, we look to the President to pardon a turkey in a sick gladiator-style duel where we get to vote on which turkey will get to live and which one goes in the oven.
2013 is still up, but here is the link to where the 2014 choices will be:

Family... I've had two deaths within three weeks and shit just sucks. Other then that I'm positive and still grateful :-)

Hey @M3LISSA

I would say that now is the time, more than ever, for the family to gather and give thanks and love to those you do still have with you! Im sorry for your losses... Use this time with your family for strength and solidarity and find some comfort in the familiar and the giant pile of turkey on your plate.

The current number stands at somewhere between 30 and 34 at my sister-in-law's house. We are bringing one cooked turkey and my 2 pumpkin pies. Someone is going to deep-fry a turkey over there.

For you who DON'T want to catch on fire, here's the trick: Put the turkey in the pot you intend to use. Now fill the pot, while the turkey is in there, with water. Pull the turkey out and mark the level. DO NOT put more oil than this in your pot.

I'm extra thankful this year since my dad drove himself to the hospital on Saturday, thinking he was having another heart attack. After blood tests they gave him nitro and the pain went away, so he was sure it was a heart issue.

Turns out nitro works equally well on the smooth muscles of the heart to relieve angina as it does on the smooth muscles of the esophagus to relieve spasms therein.

Also, try and have the turkey be as dry as possible. Pat it with a paper towel, let it sit for a few minutes. When water hits that hot oil, it splatters.

I feel the exact same way as you. Thankfully my wife and I bought our first house so next year we will host T-day with our own friends and family. Sometimes I feel my friends are more like family and my family is more like friends.

Heading to the in-laws for Thursday. Staying the night and not too happy about it. Our house is bigger and more comfortable, and I've offered to cook and everything, but the wife wants what she wants and I don't have a choice... Oh marriage...

Grow a pair and insist on having it at your house. At least, that's what I'm going to suggest to my wife next year.
