just gave all my contemporaries the same advice.My doctors all said that being in great shape really made this a much easier recovery which will lead to a better outcome.

For the last 5 months I was working out 5-6 times per week and prior to the CVA, I was at my college sophomore weight. I feel like my weight increased slightly but the scale says different. My sister says it's just a feeling from the bloat the meds give. The suit I wore is custom made and fit perfectly but the drape looked off. I also tried on two high-end Italian names which also fit perfectly but didn't look right. Ah well. I just have to see how this works out. I have to do 2, 6 minute segments for a local TV show the first week of November and I just want to feel right by then.

You may have had a temporary setback but damn if you aren't the sharpest and most alert stroke victim in human history! I can't make out your profile pic but always thought that looked like Lee Majors, so you're the $6M man indeed. Glad you're back home on the way to a full recovery. Tx for your very detailed update.

I was most worried about my cognition but it is good. One of my colleauges told me, "Do whatever you need to do to protect that beautiful mind of yours, it would a loss for us all". This is one of the nicest things anyone has said to me in my entire life. She came in, took a list of all my meetings and cleaned up my work as it came in. A VP of a company on whose board I sit directed everyone to cease all my communication, archive them and pass anything urgent to him as he was my filter. Letting go of control is the hardest thing for me but I needed to do so in order to protect my brain. My room was darkened most of time and lots of classical music from the Baroque Era which is proven to help the brain. And after who doesn't enjoy a little J.S. Bach?

Hips were easy. It was the MRSA, staph, oral fungal infections skin fungal infections and...for the coup de gras, The F'n Shingles which caused me 6 months of misery. I took 35 different meds in that time period. My last 12 have been the worst, health-wise of my life. Several hospital ER visits, prior to the CVA for the infections.

I'm epileptic, but it's controlled (was controlled?!) by medication. I'm still here that's what counts, but my favourite past time (driving) is postponed for the foreseeable future. I don't want to take attention from your thread, but can definitely relate to what you went through and am rooting for you!

Don't apologize...we need to share these events so the avoidable ones can be avoided.

I can't drive for another 35 days and I'm devastated. My daughter brlought up an evtra steerind wheel with paddle shifters on it for my occupational therapy for me to practice. It was a first for my therapist but she thought it was a great idea.

How long before you can drive again?

Perspective rears its head again. 6 months, so your 35 days would be a dream, then again in some states the seizure free period is 12 months! Thank goodness for work from home.
