I'm not suggesting that the two drivers are equal, but that they'd fit into the team in the same way. I don't think Fernando would challenge Max, or even really want to challenge Max. They'd swap a #2 driver for another #2 driver. A younger Fernando and current Max? That would be a different situation.

I have no doubt ALO will go in there with the mindset of winning the championship and beating Max. What will actually happen is....we will know if it actually happens first. Obviously he is much more mature now and does have a very good relationship with Max which MAY prevent a full blown ALO-HAM or NICO-HAM saga.

Along the same topic, I am seeing more than a few articles, whether tabloid, rumours, or a situation where journalists are writing articles to get attention but have no basis whatsoever, that Christian Horner has always been a fan of ALO and is working to get him a seat at RB while Marko is warning Horner that it is not going to work out if he does get ALO.

I love Nando, but even he has weekends where he is slower than *gulp* his nepo baby teammate. Not many, but it does happen. Max would eat him alive at this point in his career. Only driver on the grid who would threaten Max is Charles IMO, but it looks like we will never see that happen, unfortunately.

My point was not about about him beating Max but him willingly coming in to be Driver #2 to Max, which he won't do.

He knows what Max is capable of as he's one of Max's fans but I would be shocked if he does go to Red Bull with the mindset that, yeah, his faster than me so I'll just play a supporting/team role. That would be a total 180 degree to his stature, again I find almost impossible to happen.

Correct. Ricciardo moved to McLaren for the money. His seat at Red Bull was not in danger.

At McLaren he didn't enjoy the car or ran out of talent. Or both. Hopefully he enjoyed the money.

I see what you are saying. IMO he does still have #1 talent, just not at RB obviously. And he probably knows that so yeah, it would never work.

Whether or not he thinks that, only he knows but by all accounts, he would literally jump on the chance to drive the Red Bull with or without Max. I would venture to say he would do it even if he took a pay cut.

Hoping the Brembo caliper saga can be sorted, brembo are blaming teams for 'fiddling' with the components too much and there has even been suggestion of sabotage, that would thicken the plot even more.

So it looks like Sainz vs Checo in the coming races and the gloves will be off between these two of who can get better results as the season progresses.
