Billiards table recommendations

After years of visiting people's houses and seeing their nice billiards setups, I've finally decided to get a table of my own. I don't know what the good brands are and who to stay away from. I'd like something nice, but not lifestyles of the rich and famous nice? (It should say, "that's a very classy pool table... not, 'that dude spent way too much money on a pool table")

So post pics or any ideas you might have!

The first thing to decide is if you want a piece of furniture that's decorative or if you are more concerned about function. Like someone else said, don't consider anything but slate.

American Heritage (as someone else mentioned) is better for the furniture quality tables.

I like both Olhausen and Brunswick for the pure function tables. The classic tables they use at most Boston Billiards joints is the Brunswick Gold Crown. It doesn't look like much but it runs straight and wears like iron.
