Lawyer falls for Nigerian scam, loses bike and cash

For your entertainment, still waiting to see if I should believe it or not.

Still, don't sell/buy anything from someone in Nigeria!

Coles- Lawyer sells bike to a "Nigerian". Wires extra cash back to "Nigerian". Big fraud, lawyer loses money and bank.

Ouch. But I am betting that it is fake, all those names I have read on 419eater.com

I have read ALL the stories lol (in a weekend), some of them are quite beautiful, they have a cloak and dagger type one where they film guys in the act waiting to collect money but get shafted.

When I was trying to sell my Subaru I collected a number of these checks, but they were not from Nigeria these come from various places around the US. I had lots of fun leading these people on. A few had the nerve to get mad at me and threat to send the FBI after me if I did not do what they asked.

But I can tell the this story is fake, the over payment scam does no include actually taking the vehicle, the whole idea of sending a check in excess of the total amount needed, is to convince you to send them real cash for the overpayment prior to the fake check not clearing. The stupid bank take up to 2 week to clear a Cashier check, verses a personal check personal check whick will clear within 2 or 3 days.

In my case the Cashier checks were fake from Real US banks with fake branch office address. I called the banks fraud protect group and told them someone was using them to scam people. Also in these scams they will not use US mail, they use FedEX, to avoid Federal mail fraud laws and the US postal can find these folks easily so they learned to avoid USPS.

These people also stool someone real FedEX account numbers and was sending FedEX letters using companies numbers. I contacted FedEX and told them about the stolen account numbers.

These people work in groups too, the FedEX package came form one part of the country. The money was to be sent to some other part of the country or to the UK, and the persons name on the Fedex was different than the person's name on the mail and the money was to go to someone else completely different.

Considering how stupid these idiots are I am surprise anyone could be scammed by them.

LOL @

" I can't believe that Joe Mugambe would pull a scam. First, he seems like a very nice guy. Very polite and totally understood the minor delay in sending him his refund. Second, he had a very high eBay rating. Third, he told me he is a racer and I really doubt one racer would scam another. Fourth, my bank accepted his bank's cashiers check so it must be legit."

It has to be a prank! No way anyone is this naive.
