was good... but i can't justify paying that much for a steak again... even if it is pretty damn good.

M&S, absolutely horrible the last time I was there. Steak was overcooked and juiceless, and the side dishes are worse than cafeteria food.

McCormick and Schmick isn't really in the same league. It's basically TGI Friday's with better decorating and a more expensive menu.

That said it's not terrible, it's just not a steakhouse. it's consistent and some of them are in really beautiful locations. They spend a lot of money on location and decor but not on the quality of their menu.

Oh and I forgot to mention - there is this steakhouse in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area called Pittsburgh Blue. The place is good.

I'd jerk off on a midget for M&S ribs though. Steak is shit.

It's a little lower rent, but I think the steaks (I always get the rib eye) at Texas road house are really good. The rolls are insanely good, so are the sides.

Pretty good. Flying in Thursday actually for 10 days. Don't remember any places in the ROC that were good. Need to head into the city.

If your that close to Manhattan I would go to peter Luger's or Gallaghers.
I have never had good sides at Ruth Chris, hollandaise broken, overcooked asparagus.

Going to a chain steakhouse in NYC is like going to Sbarros for pizza

Pass on M&S, it's below the other chains which is not saying much. Couple of people gave you recs for local places in NYC, those are usually the best bet. Like I and other have said if for yourself, totally understand the need for a business meal though, you can replicate the best at home with a little effort and prep.
