Hi Shawn,

Do I need to update the data files after the dealer hooks up to the vehicle. Esys can't find files for certain CAFD files. If so, can you provide the link?

Thanks,

Universally no; in this case yes.

New to coding

Hi Shawn,

Could you please send me a link to the latest e-sys and psdzdata?

They are the only two pieces of software I need for F30 coding?

Many thanks,

Jorge

Shawn, slightly off topic question - can the MINI R56 be coded with Esys or is a different programme required ?

Hello Shawn
wonder if you can help. Yesterday i received my cable and I'm reading your instructions on how to do the EBT, but I'm failing at the first hurdle.

On opening the esys, I'm selecting my car F20 <NOT select _ DIRECT>, but you state selecting connection via VIN for ENET cable which I'm using, yet that option is greyed out for me?? If i connect via ICOM/ ETHERNET on tcp://127.0.0.1:50160 it states connection established, but then on selecting expert mode, code and read i get an error (see below)
Read FA failed! Possibly there is no FA stored in the VCM. [C060]
negative response error:
code: the result contains an error
description: Service RDBI_FA has error in result: [Severity=2051][ErrorCode=53311][ErrorCodeDescription=Module offline][VendorCode=20039][VendorCodeDescription=connect finally failed, reconnectCount= 1, firstStart= 14-08-27 17:09:38,325, reconnectWaitPeriod= 1000, maxReconnectTime= 10000, will not retry any longer]; ECU: VCM_ETHERNET
severity: ERROR

Any help/Desktop share would be greatly appreciated.

You have to connect via the VIN. If it's grayed out then:

1. You didn't wait for Windows to revert to a fall-back address (169.254.x.x). make sure the laptop has this type of address before trying to connect.

2. Sometimes the car just refuses to connect. Disconnect the cable, shut the car down completely, lock it, and let it rest for 15 minutes so that it shuts down completely. Then try to reconnect.

3. You have a bad cable. If your laptop has them, make sure the LED's by the RJ45 connector are on. One should be on solid, the other should flash once in a while. No lights means no connection (usually).

Make sure the engine is running before you connect the cable to the OBD port

You will not be able to connect via VIN unless PSdZData is properly installed, and the Car and Laptop have a connection. For this:

1) The Target Connection Window should not be blank (It should show multiple target connections for different chassis')
2) ENET Cable must be good
3) Car must have proper voltage (Make sure motor is running if car is not on a Charger).
4) Laptop must not have Firewall or any Antivirus software running.
5) PC Lan Adapter should get a fallback IP address of 169.254.xxx.xxx (Make sure it is using DHCP and does not have a Static IP address assigned to it)

Hi Shawn,

Quick question for you.

Would E-Sys 3.24.2 be able to code my car?

Thanks

Yes, so long as you have 3.23.4 or higher, you are good to go.

I have a option i want to code but don't know how to go about it.

When i currently Unlock my Trunk from the Keyfob it actually unlocks the whole car rather than just the trunk.

I would like to code it so that the trunk only opens.

Shawn i came across a post of yours about this option i want to code. You mention adding a Ho-Wort OEOE but if i did that it would be a permanent change and when my car would go to the dealer they would know it is coded by someone other than BMW..?
