They have yet to release any pricing information for the A5/S5. People on AudiWorld were guessing mid 50 for S5, and low-mid 40 for A5.

I have considered S5 as an alternative to E92. But it is hard to justify the additional 5K-10k for the S5.

Not to mention E92 is better in gas mileage and handling (understeer for A5/S5).

Reviews did mentioned that 3.0 TDI is "better" than S5/3.2 A5. Too bad it is not available in the US.

S5 pricing in Canada is starting at 78k
335 coupe pricing in canada starts at 52k

fully loaded 335 coupe is 65k
Audi guessing low 80's loaded, same price as the new M3 will be here

RS4 is 100k here in Canada and it is competing with the M3

i just got rid of my 2004 S4 nice car however it doesnt handle like a bmw, is slower, car was an electrical nightmare rarely a week in 3.5 years without some bulb out or warning light it also ate ignition coils like candy, hood latch broke, glove box broke, armrest broke and the customer service is absolutely brutal compared to BMW. The quattro was a joy in the winter time, interior was nice but i think everyone gives them to much credit there, the 335 interior is simple and classy, the engine pulled and sounded great. Had a 330CI before the S4 and the reliability and service was great, hopefully my 335 is a repeat performer.

I think that the new S5 looks great , but its hard to really compare to or trade my 335 for such a car when it costs 10k more.

my take on the a5 vs e92

To be very honest... i like the interior of the e92 much better than the audi.. here's why

1) its more functional i think.. not very busy, from the drivers POV, just the essentials.. (without i drive)
2) love the way the dash still angles a bit towards the driver
3) if you've ever noticed, the drivers seat has more space, than the passenger seat..
4) while parked, you'll notice that the passenger side is slightly lower than the drivers side, so while driving, the suspension is perfectly level.
5) The rear seats have that divider between them that speaks luxury and function for a 2+2 coupe.. something found only in high end cars
6) HD radio is a factory option only on the BMW (for now anyways); and for me this was very important
7) hill start assist for the MT is not available on the AUDI.. another fine detail that is a first in the automotive world.
8) The e92 has much more leg room for the rear passengers than the AUDI.
9) Even without the auto-dimming mirrors, the standard mirrors have an anti-glare bluish coating that is simply amazing.. i actually prefer it over the "auto dimming" mirrors.
10) Of corse dont forget the handling part of it.. straight line performance is not the most important aspect of the car (to me anyways), otherwise i would have bought a mustang gt500r or something.
11) Balance - that perfect front/rear weight ratio on the e92 is hard to beat
12) The exterior lines of the car.. if you've ever detailed your e92 yourself, you'll appreciate the beatiful lines of the car even more.. the door pillars, fenders, front headlight assembly, rear tailights, that amazing hood and styling front bumper.. everything just fits in perfectly. Not that is true luxury..

Expensive leathers and a LCD on the DASH dont impress me. A car should look and feel like something you want to drive, not go to bed in.

There are many other fine details, that make the BMW a superior car. Its designed around the driver; AUDI's are very nice, and the s5 is no exception, but its more designed around the passenger compartment IMHO, i think ill get my wife an a5 once she is done with the MINI Cooper S.

No matter how nice it looks, an Audi can never be a BMW...in the USA they have less appeal than BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus...plus their reliability is awful...An Audi can never ride/feel as refined as out cars (at least IMO)...I'd pick the BMW any day...

Yes, the S5 is beautiful indeed. To my eye, it's much more visually appealing, inside and out.

So why did I order the 335?

1. I tend to option out all of my cars...mostly because I'll have buyer's remorse saying "I wish I would have sprung and got this or that." Although no official pricing has been released for the S5, a loaded one is going to be significantly more money than my loaded 335. With all options, fees, and taxes (including gas guzzler), I anticipate the price of the S5 to be just over $60K. I got my 335 for just under $49K out the door.

2. We are in a time of rising gas prices, and while I understand we don't have it nearly as bad as other parts of the world, gas is still expensive (for me, at least). I don't know if I could deal with a thirsty V8 day in and day out. The 335's fuel economy will be much better than the S5.

3. I live in the northeast, and while it would be great to have a fast, sporty, secure AWD vehicle, it's not really an absolute necessity. Here in NJ, we get 2-3 significant snowstorms a year, so it's nothing too crazy. In my experience, a good set of snow tires is slightly better than an AWD vehicle. And what about rain? Well, I never do spirited driving in the rain anyway.

4. BMW vs. Audi leases. Based on what I know, Audis have terrible residuals and therefore have terrible leases. I'll be driving my 335 for literally $350-$500 less per month than the S5.

5. Modability. I'm not obsessive about modding my cars, but I'm more than likely going to be getting Procede to take advantage of the turbos and the potential in this car. With the S5, there's not much you can to match this. I'll have much greater performance in the BMW for thousands less.

6. I've always wanted a BMW, so it was time to make that dream a reality.

I'd be lying if I said money was not an issue. For me, a lot of it comes down to value. A $50K car is a big step, but $60K and a much higher lease payment was a bit of a stretch, as nice as that Audi is going to be. Also, I considered the G37 because of the value, but I just do not like the way the car looks.

This car looks ugly...

the interior looks cheap

the lines are funky

E92 335i is superior to it in every way...

I reallly like the way it looks outside an in. What are these going to be priced at anyways? I can't ever look at audiusa.com because it's by far the worst website out of any car company.

If BMW didn't release the 335i, I'd probably be waiting for a S5 right now.

I wish our I-drive hump was integrated in the dash like that. Interior looks like but the steering wheel looks big and the center console (where window switches are) is very busy.

While #11 is true, a set of Sway Bars, would take care of that. I had an B7 S4 and I put H-Sport sways on it and it was very neutral in the corners. Also it is a cheap mod. If the S5 was made in a 4 door, and was avail. now and was 5K cheaper, I would have choosen it instead on the 335i. OR if Audi had done a redesign on the S4 with that engine, I might have choosen that. the S4 as it is now is underpowered for a 340hp V8. It just does not feel very fast. But I love its interior and I have not heard about any problems that would leave you stranded.

Don't get me wrong I can't wait to take delivery of my 335i next week and it will be my first BMW, BUT this HPFP issue and high oil temps. do have me concerned. I hope I am one of the lucky ones. If not, well, lets just say I have successfully used the lemon law before and won't hesitate to use it again.

I'm not sure that it is true. The S5 is reported to have a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, which must contribute to all of the comments in reviews that it really doesn't drive like older Audis.

The interior is nice, but like I heard another member say on another thread...

"That interior will look like a cheap boom box after a year or so"

im not gonna lie.....the s5 is beautiful. I saw one in real life in NYC and it looked a ton better. The interior is stunning, the car is much more up class then the e92. Yet one thing the audi will never have, the magic touch and the love for driving that the e92 gives its driver.

I'll take one of each (335-S5) and then freaking try to give a shit.

Audi interior is amazing, exterior looks like Hyundai Tiburon...

Too much crap going on around the shifter, don't like that. but otherwise looks nice. I still prefer my E92 335i, having owned an audi which I enjoyed very much. The switch from my A4 to my E92 was a huge leap forward in every category. I'm sure this car bridges that gap a bit though.
