Upcoming Cayman GT4

http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2014/5/1...-Deal-7720314/

So I have been highly interested in an M4, but then I came across this a few days ago. After seeing all of the recent GTS videos I am very hopeful for this car. Anyone have any thoughts on this or other info?

Just hope it won't get a turbocharged Boxer 4 but a NA Boxer 6. Then this car is the best sports car man can find.

I don't think it will get turbo. Here is what I am hoping for

2900-3k lbs
380-400hp out of the 3.4l with a 8-9k redline
6mt (though I won't complain if it gets that awesome DCT the gt3 has)

Most importantly for me is the price. I would hope it started at 90k but I won't be too hopeful. I figured that might not be out of the question since most of the everything I am hopeful for isn't bespoke. Just modifications for the existing motor and trans really. Hell the normal cayman already weights 29xx lbs so I would imagine it would get marginally heavier with the performance items (wing, bigger brakes, etc...) The GTS is 77k so I think another 13k would suffice. I mean it's not like there won't be a CCB option for 10k and another 15-20k in customization for porsche to make even more money.

That sucks. I mean the GT3 starts at 130. If it starts at 125k it will hopefully have the rear wheel steering system then.

+1, I'd be shocked if it goes for close to GT3 money. I expect it to be close to $100k, which is still a hell of a lot of money, doesn't matter which way you cut it. I can't wait to see this little thing though, should be amazing.

If it's $125k, it better just be a GT3 motor, brakes, etc. It would be funny if they unleashed a Cayman that way, since it would undoubtedly be faster than the 911.

I'd prefer it to be not have rear wheel steering and a new motor just to keep the costs lower. Otherwise I will definitely be settling with a M4

Kman S base is 65, GTS is 75, 90-100 is more likely the starting price if Carrera S 99k to GT3 130k is any indication of Porsche current pricing scheme. The car will be an epic driver's car if it is to top already sublime S and GTS experience.

This thing will be an absolute animal! Pricing on this thing may be a bit scary though. The GTS already treads in the 'big dogs' territory.

I hope this is true. If it's 90k I am on board but otherwise I am in an M4. I doubt my dream will come true lol

I have a 991 C4S, and talked to my dealer yesterday about the Cayman GT4, cause I would be ready to trade my 991 in perhaps and $125K is the number they gave me, but its just an estimate…release is rumored to be late summer of 2015.

Official details to come around Feb 2015.

You should factor in another $10 000 in options, it is a Porsche after all.

What a joke. That's way more than the C7 Z06. Heck, that's R8 money right there, for a glorified Cayman?

R8 and any GTx porche are two different types of cars though. Cross over at Sarnia or Windsor and finding a 125k R8 is pretty easy. Seems like Canada is super expensive. I spend a lot of time in Oakville with the future in-laws and I can't see how anyone can afford Canadian anything, but I am used to cheapo Michigan.

True, but other options offer you the same play with much less pay!

Well, a V8 R8 starts at 134k, so if a Cayman GT4 is 125k, then that's more or less the same price really. 9k is just pocket change when you're talking about that kind of price bracket.

Welcome to Canada, where everything is 1.5 - 2 times more expensive than south of the border. Things could be worse though. At least we're not nearly as bad as Europe!

That's so true. Just got back from Holiday in Croatia and Hungary and we thought we would have this holiday a bit cheaper than the usual Europe romp since we just assumed kind of a 3rd world experience. NOPE. lol Ended up at the Falkensteiner in Croatia and spent just as much money as we would have in any other European country (which is too much lol)

Ya crazy thought. But that would be compared to the 997s and 991.1 cars. The 991.2s will be getting power bumps across the board if I am not mistaken, which should keep the Cayman GT4 at bay (at least in a straight line hah).

Glad to hear I am not the only one whom heard that number being thrown around. I am at porsche vancouver quite a bit, I will ask next time I am down there to see what they are saying.
