Honda and even Ford have euro models which should be sold in NA. It's a shame that we end up with duds while Europeans get some really decent cars from mainstream car manufacturers which look good, which are refined and drive well and cheap.

I would have thought that the US would get pretty much all Ford vehicles since it's an American company. What Fords do you not get?

The "rest of world" Ford range is pretty different from the US one. We get the Fiesta, Fusion, transit van and Focus but none of the rest even though we have been begging for a Mondeo for years now. Theyre just now looking at putting some diesel engines in our cars. Other countries get others still, for example Australia has the Ford Falcon. The US range also has lots of big trucks and SUVs which are too big for most places.

Focus RS, Fiesta ST 3 door, and Mondeo are the first ones that come to mind. I guess the new Fusion was supposed to be the US version of the Mondeo though.

We get those those models too (although the fusion is only being introduced here next year as the new Mondeo) along with one 'truck' and some budget offerings. You guys get a lot of the large 'trucks', flex and mustang!! A pity the mustang hasn't got around here yet..

Damn that sucks, those are one of Ford's nicer cars. The fiesta ST Is a performance bargain of epic proportions. The RS was a limited run though, and I've only ever seen one on the road. The fusion will be introduced here next here also as the new Mondeo, but the old Mondeo was really one of Fords nicer offerings, especially in ST form!

It's so tragic that we don't get the Focus RS. They probably reckon that it'd cannibalize Mustang sales too badly.

I'm sure they'd lose six or seven sales. Not that the RS isn't cool, but that's a little like saying Mini GP sales will cannibalize M3 sales. I'd guess there are maybe 78 Americans that would pay $45k+ for a fwd hatchback.

That's what I'm saying, that they have nothing to fear. I see your point about the price but it wouldn't be that much. It starts at around 25k pounds in the UK so closer to 35k in the US, maybe less since cars are much cheaper overall in the states and Ford lives here (not like they need to sink a lot of money into their US infrastructure).

I definitely think that there would be a market for a $35k 330HP turbo hatch. People here pay $45k for naturally-aspirated mustangs and the golf GTI is just as popular as it is in Europe. Volkswagen sells $30k GTIs all day long with much less engine for the money and VW doesn't have nearly the following that Ford has in the US. It definitely won't be on every street corner but it's not supposed to be. It is something special meant for someone who cares heavily about the driving experience.

Bump for pictures... The lines have changed since 2013, for the good IMO. It's still at the concept stage and I hope they don't change the lines at all before putting it into production. I love how aggressive this car looks...

Top gear link... http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/H...led-2014-03-03

The new Type R will be the first model in Europe to feature the company's brand-spanking VTEC turbo engine. It'll come as a 2.0-litre, direct injection, four-cylinder unit that'll make at least 280bhp and be Euro 6 compliant. Blimey.

Yep, me too. It's totally over the top and NOT for the average Honda buyer. No compromises. If you don't like it, there's a nice standard Civic for you right over there---->

Oh how I wish BMW would have the stones to make M cars with that philosophy again, and build them in limited amounts.

Kudos to Honda.

I wouldn't say that. I'm sure it will be the fastest FWD car on the market, faster than A AMG on track (not straight line). And the same goes for the NSX, it is very likely to be faster than the AMG GT.

Yeah, maybe BMW should blister the fenders, put a big front air dam on it, and maybe a wing out back...

And throw in 4-banger just for good measure.

LOL

People are going to be surprised by the GT.

From what I've heard, the standard GT is going to lay an ass-beating on the current SLS AMG Black Series when it comes to the 'ring lap time.

That's just the standard GT. It's going to be one of the lightest and fastest performance cars AMG has ever made.

But, if we ever see this NSX here in the States, I'll be paying attention.

I have absolutely no doubt about how good the AMG GT will be, it is smaller and lighter, definitely to pick over a fast but overpriced, bad sounding and boring 911 Turbo (S). The AMG GT is the business man's sports car, classy and racy.

But the NSX will also surprise with its performance. Honda has not disappointed when building sports cars.

PS: There will also be haters, mainly BMW guys, because BMW has nothing of the kind (yet).

Honda's offering have been stale for quite some time. Almost forgot about this brand. This ctr is a start especially with this brand finally catching up and slapping on some turbos. Can't imagine what that would be like with vtec. Would love to see them come out with something like an itr or s2000 just to spice up the brand like Toyota did with the 86. Just wishful thinking.
