Not that at all, its just I been thru this stuff 20 years ago. Most of this crap is just remakes of same shit that was pioneered way back when. I was listening to NWA when that shit was new. How many times can you talk about shooting cops and shit before its all the same.

What gets me about people who listen to rap/hip-hop whatever, is that the shit they listen to is about hood-life, getting locked up...meanwhile they live in suburbia with a nice house and loving family.

this thread isnt about that kind of music. the hip hop im talking about has depth to it. its relative to current events, its deeper than money or promiscuity, a lot of people can relate to the lyrics of a good song or artist. i dont see how thats so hard for you to understand.

I love hip hop. Don't feel like throwing out names, I listen to whatever stands out to me. I'll post some vids of what I'm listening to later. Radio music is boring nowadays.

Oh, and is it me, or is the Youtube sound not working?

listen to the lyrics of every song i just posted disregarding the ones by the army of the pharaohs, then try to make that general statement again.

the majority of rap (and mainstream hip hop) talks about bling, killin cops and living the thug life. good shit consists of deep lyrics about stories, the hip hop universe's present state, politics, religion, or something with meaning. in fact, most of the hip hop i listen to has way more meaning than any of the shit on the radio, hip hop/rap or otherwise.

are you sayin that if you listen to hip hop you have to be a thug? really now.

and if you listen to classic rock, shouldn't you probably be a hippie?

I'm saying there is no possible way you can relate to the lyrics if you are a teenie with a 335i bumping music about gettin shot up in Compton while hustling for a dime.

i dont get why you cant absorb what bimmer loyalist and i are trying to say. the music we listen to and are promoting in this thread has absolutely nothing to do with 'gettin shot up in compton'. in addition, youre making personal attacks to get your unrelated, ignorant point across.

other artists forgot to mention:
RA The Rugged Man
Nonphixion
Esoteric
C-Rayz Walz
Akrobatik
Madlib/Quasimoto

man hiphop is alive and well
true true, aesop's music is love or hate. i prefer eso in AOTP, but his standalone music is just kinda...i dunno his tone sounds repetitive if you know what i mean. i need to listen to those other artists though, and i love RA.

I don't mind the stuff on the radio, but I get tired of those songs quickly. But the artists above are timeless to me. I can listen to their music over and over and not get tired of it.
Damn, we listen to almost the exact same shit. The new Reef album is damn good.

Whats wrong with hip-hop? Its just a culture of music speaking there mind? Can you imagine if i went on about how depressed blues players were? 1st of all that would be a huge generalistion and i'd just sound stupid... Ppl gettin the hint?!?

Hip hop has its good sides and bad sides to judge it from one side is not fair - its like sayin all BMW driving are arrogant and show off there money with there toys - where as this can be true some enjoy the drive and service delivered.....

Go figure.....

People seem to beat around the bush whenever it comes to discussion of hip hop or rap...there is always covert racism when the music is critiqued. Like we have all heard before....people fear what they dont understand. Self expression and storytelling has been around since the beginning of time, its just easier for some to label hip hop/rap as negative.
