Squeaking Wipers
My E90 has been born with some squeaking wipers ever since it was new. (2.5 months now) I brought it back to the dealers after one month. They changed the rubber on it. Problem solved for 15 minutes of use and the problem was back. After one week, brought it back to the dealers again. They said they cleaned it and waxed it. So I decided to try it once more. After a few days, the problem was back again but not so severe now.
The squeaks only happen when it is approaching the normal down position. (Squeaks just one/two inches before reaching the normal parked positon) and a very minor squeak noise when it reaches the top position. And of course, using windshield washer relieves the problem for a few minutes and then it is back again. Can anyone post up your experience with your wipers? Any suggested solutions? It is quite annoying when it rains. BTW, I used the E46 wipers before and they are almost silent to me when in use. Huge difference. |

It's something they have put on your windscreen. I don't know where in the world you are, but I am going to guess USA (cause only you folks call it 2006)
I've heard poeple on this forum talk about Rain X...try that...see if it helps. If it doesnt, wash the windscreen with dishwashing liquid to get all the wax/whatever is on it OFF - and then see... One of those two things will fix it. |

It sounds like you have wax or oil on your windshield. Do you go to automatic car washes with "hot wax"? Wax or road grime(oil) can cause the wiper blades to squeak and chatter.
Try using this http://www.303products.com/main.php?...wipertreatment after cleaning your windshield.

waxing winshield =
Wash winshield with dawn and scrub it well. If you want, there is an excellent product made my Glass Science, called Glass Scrub- it removes all oil/wax/dirt/bugs and is very easy to use. It even smells good and is only a few bucks, plus it does all your windows like 15 times. Chatters and squeaking will be gone.

I just tried using Dishwasher Detergent to clean off the wipers and the windshield. I'll try it out when it rains again in my area. But now, after cleaning the windsheild, using the wipers when the windshield is dry is now noiser. It used to be quieter before despite having squeaks when raining. Not that it's a problem since there's no point in using the wipers when the windshield is dry, but just a note about it.
And no, I never used RainX on my windshield before. |

Just for clarification sake - Do you suggest using Rain-X or not. I just purchased some because the visibility was awful the last time I drove in the rain. I have not put Rain-X on the windshield yet.
Are you saying doing so will create squeaking? Thanks
