That sucks for the OP. Luckily I had pretty cool parents. When I turned 16 my parents gave me my mothers Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 which had the twin turbo V6 and 300bhp. They gave it to me on the condition that they will sell it if I get a speeding ticket. I never wrecked it and I never got a speeding ticket in it.

On the other hand:
My buddy's parents gave him a 325i convertable, which wasn't that fast (I topped it out at 128mph in 5th vs. my car could do 120mph in 3rd) and he got pulled for doing 102mph on the highway.

Moral of the story: Every situation is different. Some kids are responsible enough to have fast cars, and some are not. Sure I did some high speed driving, but never when around other cars or hard around corners. The OP could be a good driver, but he sounds like a tool while he thinks he sounds cool.

You mean one mistake where you got caught? By your own admission, you drive like this all the time. Also, your posts suggest you have nothing but contempt for your parents judgement. Unless you develop some RESPECT for your parents, respect for the abilities of your vehicle and MAN UP, your car will be the 'ultimate death machine' for you. Only a matter of time...
I'd take it away too with an attitude like yours, you don't deserve it.

This kid sounded like a tool as well. Sad result of stupid decisions i.e. Top speed attempt on a runway at night while drunk without a big sign to tell him when to brake.

Ha! When i was 16, my parents gave me a base mini cooper. They wouldn't even dare get me the cooper "s". CA told my dad it was the fast one. Yopu can onyl imagine his immediate response being "NO!". LOL.. That thing had like 116hp at 5500rpms, you can only imagine. I thought I was driving a dragster when i would borrow my brothers e46 325i.

None the less, grow up man. I find it kind of shocking that some kids that come from rich families ( I know, I came from a wealthy family), think that they deserve everything and that they themselves will be able to obtain the same luxuries their parents gave them without working hard for it (ref: the OP comment on leasing a BMW when he moves out). I drove an e90 330i, X5 4.8is, then a 335i, and now I have none of that. Mom can't help me anymore, and I simply cannot afford the car by myself.

I'm guessing that your dad must be one of those slow drivers that put others at risk. When I was in drivers ed, the instructor told me to floor it when I was getting on the freeway to catch up with traffic. Similar instructions when entering a situation such as yours.

Sorry to hear.

There is a difference in speeding up to merge, and speeding up to merge in front of another car that is all ready ahead of you.

Oh, and my first car that was mine cost $4000 and was an 86 Cutlass Supreme Coupe and that wasn't till I was 17 1/2...before that I drove my parents 93 Dodge Ram Conversion Van.

Yes, the kid pulled a bonehead act that killed himself and his friends but let's keep the facts straight. Toxicology tests showed the driver had no alcohol or drugs in his system and only 1 of the passengers had been drinking. He pulled that move completely sober which almost makes it worse.

This is a very mature response, not sure why a father would want to take away the car from soneone so responsible and mature such as you

If I knew your dad, I'd suggest he go to target and buy you a "power wheels" Maybe the barbie model to match all your girly whinning.
