Opinions on this 335i

I am currently looking at this vehicle. The carfax seems clear it had 1 owner. I have never bought a used vehicle ever and worried about what may go wrong other than normal maintenance. I am clueless when it comes to maintenance.

Couple of things... 1) buying used is the more financially sound choice to make. Let someone else eat that outrageous first year depreciation. 2) I don't have a 335, I have a 11' 328i, however I've been looking for a 335i and 335is. I feel the price tag on this vehicle is wayyyy too high. For that price, you could get a 11 328i that is generously equipped and has a extended warranty. For 4k more you could find a 11 335i sedan as well. I realize we all have a budget, but I'd keep looking. The pre-11 n54 engine was a great engine performance wise, but had a lot of issues(hpfp and turbos). They got ironed out toward the end of its existence(2010). I would steer clear of these if you don't have warranty coverage. Best of luck!

Thanks guys. I was going to take a look at it just to see the condition of it since it's hard to tell just from pics. The sticker on this was around $51k...if I were to purchase, I would try to get close to 20k. Not sure if this is standard or not from BMW but the dealership will be giving me 12month, 12k mile warranty. It's just so hard to find this color! Lol

OP-Here's the best advise I can give you since both of my 335i's are used 09/10. Engine wise you want the N54 which STOP in 2010, do not get a 2011 because that has the N55 which in my eyes has issues.

Regarding the 09 you've provided a link to, that's way to much for that year and those miles. Sport pckg isn't rare so dont' buy that part either, be mindful of the DTML fuel pump. Double check the charge pipe also, if it's OEM ask if it's been replaced if not find out what brand it is. Other than that 09/10 are your best years for a used bmw. Not only for the engine but the navigation starting in 09 looks nice compared to the previous years.

Hope this helps and regarding the hpfp and turbos they have factory warranty so they'll be covered

Thanks. Guess I will have to find a member on here to take a look at the vehicle. Like I said, I am clueless when it comes to cars. Other than adding air to tires, changing air filters, and adding windshield washer fluid, I don't have a clue lol.

What's the average cost to relace the DTML pump? Also, what's the warranty on the Turbo? 100k?

Agreed with everything this poster said. Main reason why I'm trying to get into a 335is is because it has the N54 motor instead of the N55. Also, again...in regards to the pricing of this vehicle: a car that is three years old from BMW typically has a residual value of somewhere between 58-60%(according to BMW). So if this were say a 2011....the price would be around 30K. Yours is 2 years older and is out of warranty...and they are saying that discount is 10K....I believe it is more around 15K. I.e-I wouldn't pay anything more than 16K for it(add an additional 1K for preferred color choice).

See if you can't negotiate the price down. I don't think there is a ton of people out there in the market for an 09...plus it's the holiday season, so more buyers will be looking at new and gently-used cars due to the incentives. They should find it difficult to move.

Thanks! I will prob go there Friday and see it in person and drive it. Also will see what else they can throw in to sweeten the deal. Think the max I will go is 20k out the door depending on condition.

Here's the link below regarding the warranty portion
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=729833

As far as the DTML fuel pump, it isn't much but if you take it to the dealership they'll charge roughly 300+. It's relatively easy and unfortunately I didn't know that until AFTER I dished out the money for it to be replaced
