Keeping interior smelling fresh

Anyone have tricks for keeping the interior smelling fresh? I bought my car used in June and the previous owner did a great job, it smelled almost new. But over the past few months the interior has started to smell more and more "used", almost a musty smell.

I regularly vacuum the inside, use Zaino on the seats, and protectant on the dash and other interior parts.

there are leather sprays which smell like new, if you have musty smell then change cabin air filter also.

Thanks for the tips. I'll change the cabin air filter.

Anyone know how windows up vs. down, and the HVAC controls such as AC on vs. off, recirculate on vs. off, etc. would affect the interior "freshness"?

You could also try leaving a bounce sheet on the floor under the front seats and replace them when necessary. Also, try shampooing the mats and/or carpeting.

Yeah and 20 hp loss! Or whatever. Try some beano.

Actually, if you like the smell of coffee, put a small Ziploc in the back seat with some fresh ground coffee. The aroma will permeate the bag, change it out every month or so.

I leave the AC on all the time. In winter, it keeps the inside of the windows frost- and fog-free.

The goal is mostly to fight moisture. The computer of the AC is actually good at using the AC to dry the air without blowing cold in winter. I cannot tell on the MPG when I use or not the AC on my side, but admitedly I have an heavy foot, and that may just stomp all statistics.

After running the ac before I shut the car down I turn the ac off but keep the fan going to help keep that moldy musty smell away.

I use Mothers VLR on the seats. Smells like a new leather baseball glove.

Price's Odor Elimator Candle. Put it on a heat proof mat in the foot well a few times a year. Keep a close eye on it and let it burn for around 10 minutes. That's when it is really bad. Otherwise, cleaning the leather always helps (Dr Leather Wipes), cleaning the plastics (BMW plastic cleaner) and cleaning the carpets (Turtle Wax Carpet Foam or Autoglym Interior Shampoo). The odd a/c bomb (using one after the other) has helped too around once a year but leaves a very strong lemon smell behind and can be choking for days after if not used properly.
