Does anyone know of a good exhaust system for the 335d?
Hi I've been looking for a nice exhaust system to put into my 2011 335d but I'm having a lot of trouble finding much since I guess they aren't too popular in the U.S. thought about straight piping it but I honestly have no idea about any of that stuff. Just looking for it to sound a little more like a diesel and get the twin turbo to be heard more. Budget is around 1500-2 but the less I can spend the better haha. Also, this may be a stupid question but I have a 100k mile 5 yr warranty and just wanna make sure an exhaust upgrade wouldn't void it thanks in advance

There has been some discussion on the diesel subforum - TDIwise has dome a bunch of stuff and posted pics on his custom job.
There isn't much that can be done unless you remove emissions components, however. The center muffler position is taken by the SCR Catalyst, and the turbo and DPF/Oxydation catalyst quiet things quite a bit. The rear mufflers are almost not needed - IIRC TDIwyse straight-piped them (but he's done other stuff.) |

I know the feeling I want some kind of exhaust tone. At bimmerfest I asked every exhaust manufacturer about possibly one in the works for our car and they all told me no. That there isnt a high enough demand. One even told me if I want a exhaust tone trade the car.

Alright thanks floyd! And yeah tell me about it, really is impossible to get anything done to them. I've thought about getting rid of the dpf but worry Iif that will cause any issues since I only hear of people deleting their dpfs in diesel trucks...

Not much (if anything) you can do short of gutting the emissions equipment.

Remus and SuperSprint do but they're not compatible with the US spec 335d. As Floyd said, all of the emissions related parts in the exhaust is what's suppressing all the noise.

This may be a stupid question so please don't judge haha but would straight piping do anything and would that involve taking out the emission regulating parts?

I should correct this a tiny bit: removing the SCR probably won't trigger limp mode, although it will trigger SES. Removing the DPF or EGR will also trigger SES, and are likely to trigger limp mode. Additionally, removing DPF (with or without a DP) needs a tune to possibly prevent turbo over-speed.

While we're on the topic, does anyone have the renntech tuner for the d and is it easy to bring it in and get it flashed before a service check so they don't void my warranty?
