I just sold my buick regal with the 3800 motor and it was a great car. Had it from 50k miles to 125k and my father bought it from me because he knew what it would do as a comuter and in the snow. He is a farmer who doesn't want to take his gas hog truck to the grocery store 30miles away. I don't put many miles on my 135i and I got it to drive so I didn't need a beater anymore. However, that was a great car and I had it for 7 years. Atr is right it will rust before you get any drivetrain problems. You also have some more metal around you and safety equipment if you find yourself in an accident than you would in a civic. Not saying that a civic or whatever is a bad choice either, but you could probably pick one of the buicks up and for their build year they had some amenities you wouldn't find elsewhere, mine had dual zone climate control and power seats and a grand touring suspension that was pretty smooth. I also had around 225 hp and 180 ft/lbs which was enough when I needed to pass someone. The factory audio is better than my 135. I recomend a gs model for some of these extra features, and it won't cost you that much more.

I also recomend when people give you crap about the car, just ask them to race and show up the next day with your 135.

how about 30-40mph below prevailing speed:thumbup:? for real!! i cracked up my nieces and nephews at their grandmother's(my mother's) expense the other day; she had just bought a new impala and had asked me to explain how to scroll through the various dash readings; when i got to the avg. speed it was 6mph, ,which i couldn't resist pointing out to my 4 young nieces the next time we were in the car . mom seemed to take it well at the time but come to find out that the next day she modified her will and in a stroke of irony has bequeathed to me the impala and nothing else.

Reverse gear is the preferred 'modus operandi' for donuts in FWD. ; -)

My 94 Celica was $3k including tax/license. You can find the 6th gen (94-99) for under $4k. MT that gets damn near 35 mpg. I got 502 miles off my last tank of gas. Its also sporty looking and fun to drive. Swapping a turbo engine from an MR2 into it next month though, so my gas mileage is about to be cut in half At least it will be alot faster though
