Radar detector suggestions?
I have never used a radar detectors/laser interceptors nor even seen one, except in photos. I have been thinking of buying one as I have one too many speeding tickets
Can anybody give me suggestions for make, model, pricing? I did a search on radar detectors before deciding to post and couldn't find any thread that talked about models, etc. Any suggestions y'all have? |

There's only one Radar Detector - the Valentine1. The rest are fluff.
You can get a discount if you call them up and get one that's been returned for whatever reason. As far as an Interceptor goes - the last I checked the "Laser Interceptor" was the top dog but was going through some internal struggles with the guy who made it and the US salesmen. Not sure how all that turned out though. |

Thanks, guys!
I saw a couple of other ones mentioned in some website: the Bel RX65 and Escort 8500 X50. What do you think about these? |

V1, saved my ass within a week of purchase, and three times since then... but dont assume that a "radar" detector is a "cop" detector. for instance, since I bought the V1, I HAVE been pulled over a couple of times for random crap without a radar warning at all. Just pay attention to your surroundings, and, although the V1 helps a ton, it is not the end-all be-all to getting a ticket...

I didn't like the V1.
I've always used the Passport Escort. I recently just got the new 9500 from them and it has been outstanding. The GPS feature on this model is also very cool. To me, the "arrows" are a little gimmicky. Escort owns 85+ % of all the patents on radar detector technology. And didn't Valentine used to work for Escort anyway?

Yeah, until he realized that he was a better engineer than everyone around him and he quit, starting his own company with a far superior product and a lower price, not to mention award-winning customer service backed by a warranty that guarantees you will always be ticket-free as long as you can manage to install the detector correctly which is surprisingly easy given the lengthy and in depth manual that comes in the box with every purchase as though placed there by your traffic-ticket guardian angel but in reality it was just put there by a normal shipping and receiving worker who has not received a speeding ticket in years thanks to his trusty V1 which he got for free because of his job as a company perk from the owner himself who was a better engineer than everyone around him and he quit, starting his own company with a far superior product and a lower price, not to mention award-winning customer service backed by a warranty that guarantees you will always be ticket-free as long as you can manage to install the detector correctly which is surprisingly easy given the lengthy and in depth manual that comes in the box with every purchase as though placed there by your traffic-ticket guardian angel but in reality it was just put there by a normal shipping and receiving worker who has not received a speeding ticket in years thanks to his trusty V1 which he got for free because of his job as a company perk from the owner himself who was a better engineer than everyone around him and he quit, starting his own company with a far superior product and a lower price, not to mention award-winning customer service backed by a warranty that guarantees you will always be ticket-free as long as you can manage to install the detector correctly which is surprisingly easy given the lengthy and in depth manual that comes in the box with every purchase as though placed there by your traffic-ticket guardian angel but in reality it was just put there by a normal shipping and receiving worker who has not received a speeding ticket in years thanks to his trusty V1 which he got for free because of his job as a company perk from the owner himself.

I actually really like the arrows as well. Thought they'd be gimmicky, but they work, and make you aware of where the cop is in relation to you.

Has locations of speed traps, speed cameras, etc. stored.
If you frequently do city driving and daily you pass by a store with automatic doors that set off false alarms, you can program the detector to not set off a warning. When you are driving and you are given a radar/laser alert, your speed appears on the detector screen so you can adjust your speed accordingly without having to look at your speedometer first. Go to Escort's website and you'll see all the advantages.

Nothing beats the Valentine One in radar and laser detection in the under $500 radar detector category.
