Who would spend $500,000 on a Canadian Supercar?

I'm not sure there is a market for a $500,000 Canadian Exotic Car?

The car company is named HTT (High Tech Toys) and the car is called the Plethore. Personally I think it would be a tough sell; most people buying a car for $500k plus want the status of Lamborghini, Ferrari or some other european exotic nameplate in order to better impress/showoff.

Here is a link to this weeks Dragon's Den episode where the owners of the car company make a pitch to potential investors to help bring the car to market:

http://www.automonster.ca/?p=1856

Who would buy this car?

Well, they got investors from Dragon's den backing them up so maybe they will be able to sell some of these. They hope to sell 2 -3 in Canada and considering Canada has 180,000+ millionaires (and 28 billionaires), 2-3 might not be such a stretch.

There is also the Canadian armored SUV 'Knight XV' with a V10 powered by bio-fuels. It also around $350,000.

So they copied the F1 and put a different body on it. I like the idea, but I am not crazy about the name. Just like the Gumpert Apollo. I would never want to say...Honey shall we take the Gumpert out tonight? Or...I drive an Apollo.lol It also looks awful. this car looks pretty good for sure, but they better put out some serious performance figures and have top notch build quality, and change that horrible name.

you simply could not pick a better car to 'copy'

McLaren could start building the F1 again today and start selling them at the peak of their production capacity. It is/was that damned good.

Had a chance to take a close look at this last year at the Toronto Autoshow. Talked to the guys and they were obviously pretty excited about trying to bring this car to market. I took some pics, I will try to find it.

From what I recall it was a 7L V8, Sequential Transmission, AP Racing BBK and HRE P40 wheels. Damn sexy car - hope it makes it to market. Given the low weight and 750HP is surely will be quick!

I cant wait to see what Top Gear does with it. The name alone will give them 5 min of material. They will call it an F1 copy and make some remark about it being canadian, so it will just give up before any race or let the other car win because it is canadian and therfore too nice to make another car feel bad.lol

The looks and specs are surely there, but there's one thing that stands out: paying HALF A MILLION bucks for a car with only $1.5 million spent on development...

For example, McLaren spent approximately $500 million in development of the MP4-12C alone.

I agree, but, I noticed that the specs of the engine are a 7liter V8 engine. I'm guessing this means they are using the LS2. If that is the case, then the most expensive R&D is already taken car for you.

If the car really is good and I had the money for it, I'd buy one. It looks so damn pretty!

I am not sure if this is the LS7 or not. I thought they said the engine was built in house. I think they said they were also considering an optional 1100hp (maybe it was 1200hp) engine as well!

It doesn't cost that much when you are pulling parts out of bins.

Besides, has this car done anything yet?

The car look awesome but developing cost =1.5million dollars. Isn't that too less for such a light car peppered with carbon fibre?? Plus I thought developing a ABS system for a car alone cost $1 million alone?

I hope its not a joke because this car is a beauty.

I am quite certain they are not developing any systems. all they have to do is reach into the gm parts bin and poach some cheap (relatively) world class zr1 parts. Next go to a company that builds race cars to put a chassis together.

All that aside, this car isn't going anywhere. Saleen couldn't even pull it off when the economy was booming, the car had proven itself on the track, and he had dealers in place.

I saw this car a long time ago in a dR Mag and I think it looks cheap... The doors fold up wrong... The 3 seats is just wrong... The defuser is wrong... The car just bothers me...

It was inspiring to watch this... I hope those guys sell a million of them...

lmao they used the bmw performance steering wheel!!! Talk about going to the parts bin and picking things out of it. The airbag is even the same shape and they kept the alcantra on the sides and the leather at top and bottom.
