According to the article work is already underway to modify the V8 to meet EU7 emissions standards, and the C & E class would only need minor bodywork changes to accommodate the powerplant along with its hybrid components.

Doesn't the amg gt 4 door already have that engine and meets the eu7 regulations?

Honestly does my head in how manufacturers are butchering performance cars. All this thing needs is a modern NA V8 and some weight loss, it'll solve almost every problem that have tried to mask on this bloated pig. 500HP is tonnes, just make it lighter.

If you watched the video, you’ll see the main criticism isn't the concept, its the execution. The ability to throw down max torque instantly should lead to some pretty amazing performance above and beyond NA if done correctly, but this one was not done correctly. The AMG models have always struggled a bit between muscle-car and all around performance (turning). Rather than trying to address issues, this one seems to just ride the wave of prior AMGs and Mercedes reputation, without delivering.

A “modern” V8 is going to be so pumped up with hot-v turbos or electrically assisted turbos or something its not going to be simple any way they do it. People will want their massive torque. Lighter is possible, but not practical for a platform that is shared with other px cars and has all the crap people expect a mercedes to have.

I wonder if MB will let them have any cars to review moving forward. I agree the review was fair but I suspect didn't help sales any.

Once you get some notoriety it could work both ways. Throttle House could call out MB if they get blackballed. We’ll see. I think MB knew they had dogsh*t on their hands anyways with a 4-cylinder AMG.

I will believe it when I see it.

MB should have never removed the V8 for some F1 nonsense customers didn't ask or care for.

The "F1 nonsense" is just that, nonsense for the sake of marketing.

Mercedes is an incredibly confused company at the moment; their vehicles are overwhelmingly mediocre and have been that way many years. The S-class and G wagon deserve the star, the remainder of their portfolio...I'm not convinced.

The only Mercs I'd ever be interested in owning are an R107 SL or W126. To me that's when Mercedes Benz was Mercedes Benz.

Probably in a special edition of a 63 model. Doubt they're going to suddenly ditch all the R&D in the hybrid four banger set up and revert back to the V8 especially when it hasn't been released in North America, never mind that the W206 wasn't designed for the V8.

But the concept IS flawed. It'll never sound right but more importantly the batteries weigh so much it ruins all pretense of a car with a sporty intent. It's just another Model S now. All the chassis issues are the engineers trying to overcome the weight issue.

THese types of cars, along with M division, before we go all EV, need to be much simpler and take a huge weight cut.

Honestly you could drop a LS7 in these things, drop 1,000 pounds and you'd have a MUCH better car.

Yet, there are hybrid hypercars.

They cost 10 times what these things do, that's a lot of R and D. Keep it simple, included the ridiculous tech. People wonder why Porsche just keeps killing it.

Hybrid Supercars have the benefit of extensive use of expensive, exotic, light weight materials all the way through to help offset weight gains for complex drive systems. It’s not really a fair comparison.

Interestingly a Model S Plaid doesn’t weigh much more than the new C63.

With the S Plaid you get the benefits of the lower center of gravity from being fully EV. You also get the immediacy of torque at any speed. I would rather do full ICE or full EV vs a hybrid setup.

Cant believe they had the audacity to call a 4 banger a C63 in the first place. Honestly I was even offended at the 4L being called a "63".
