You are lucky. So far mine had 14 injectors replacement (2+6+6) in 14 months! This is probably not the final count, it is now again at the dealer for repair for over a week. I hope that I will get my car this week.

The 335d are for the one that like going to the dealer and drive a different loaner every month or two!

What the heck! I feel bad for you. Hopefully BMW can step up and find a way to resolve these issues. No one buying a "premium" product should have to deal with this. I truly appreciate your candor. My wife wants me to pass on a 335d and consider a Lexus. I do like the Lexus IS-F! My time is so precious to me and I don't have time to waste with runs back and forth to the dealership for part replacements / repairs on components that should otherwise work for a majority of the car's lifespan. I'm so glad that I have purchase options and glad I'm doing a bit of research prior to a 335d purchase. Since I've decided to keep my VW Jetta TDI instead of upgrading it, I have more flexibility with a car purchase and I don't necessarily need two diesel cars in the family.

I took the car in today again with the same fault code P02D1, which last month meant that 6 injectors were replaced.

The traffic info RTTI is stuck, The loaner does not display that either, so I guess is more of a general issue, not just my car.

Wow! 14 injectors replaced in 14 months is just crazy! What's the cost for a single injector.... ~$500, $500 x 14 = $7000

That is just too crazy!

Yet BMWNA claims they have no info on any problems about this model.

I wisely decided to buy the BMW Powertrain 7Y/100K warranty before the 4Y/50K warranty ended. If I add injectors, SCR component and other items that have been replaced since I own the car, it would likely to be over $10K of part and labor.

Emissions warranty covers the injectors and SCR till 7years/70k miles. No need for extended warranty in this case.

Almost everybody here is trying hard to mod their car in order to make it work as it should.

We all had perfect cars until about 50k miles. Then everything changed.

In my defense, I modded my car at just under 10k miles, but for different reasons. Now I just have to wait for the other shoe to drop in about 20k miles more.

I do not think this is applicable to Georgia

The efforts to modify their cars with the intent of improving reliability and reducing the carbon buildup and related issues is commendable! I applaud all who are attempting this. I would do the same if I owned a 335d. As much as I like the 335d, I'm not sure that I want to go through the hassle, time and expense of having to mod the car to make it run like it should and be reliable.

Eventually all new diesels will have the same fate. They all get the "alphabet technology" which makes everything last for only short intervals of operation.
DEF, DPF, SCR, DOC, EGR

I think this will actually kill the diesel engine.
Big trucks now are shifting toward natural gas engines from diesels, there are more and more hybrids and electric cars coming to a dealer near you.

70k mile emission warranty is given by BMW, not by a particular state. They are all covered bumper to bumper by a 50k mile warranty, but emissions are covered by a different one. Turbos, injectors, SCR, DPF are all included.
I think Hooper posted somewhere all that is included in the emission warranty.

Interesting. I read the warranty differently. From my 2011 book, it states 8/80 for specific parts (PR and USA emissions warranty page 34).

The only 2 components listed on page 37 for 8/80 are the CAT and ECM.

If there is a diesel specific insert/update I don't have one with the manuals I received for my 2011. A boo.

Regardless, I did purchase a 3rd party 7/100 when I got my non-cpo car last year.

I think that dixy, being in California, has mistaken the CA warranty coverage as covering all states.

This has been discussed many times (especially in the M57/N57 diesel forum), but I'll try to state it succinctly:
1) 4/50K warranty all of US/Canada. 4/50K maintenance US/Canada
2) 2/24K Federal emissions warranty (kind of useless for BMWs, but not other brands)
3) 7/70K CALIFORNIA emissions warranty, only valid in CA and 12 other consortium members - see warranty booklet for list but WA, OR, NY are members.
4) 8/80K federal warranty on "specific emissions components", which is the ECU, OBD II system, and catalytic converter(s).

Well, I did it!

I purchased a 2011 335D with 23k miles on it. It has been sitting on the lot since last September since it was a lease return. I have been watching the 335D's for a while and finally got one. I pick it up today.
It's a CPO and the warranty is for 6 yrs/100k. I will burn thru the 100k in about 2 years, so I hope all of these issues you guys talk about gets covered.

Congrats....now tell us more details...sport pack? M pack? Color combo?

Also, hope I am wrong here...but if it has been sitting since Sept with very little use, I would not be surprised if you get a SES code related to the Urea injection. Sitting that long I'd guess the old Urea fluid may have crystallized on the injector. If so, it is a simple fix at the dealer which will just involve warm water cleaning.

Enjoy the new car!

Congrats on your 335d purchase! Getting a 335d with CPO warranty coverage was a good decision IMHO. Drive it and enjoy!

It only has the cold weather and premium packages. No sport or M package. It is black ex/black in. I'll call it a ninja 335d !

I thought about the DEF being a problem so I took it out on the interstate for a test drive. Took it up to 85 in a matter of seconds, then down shifted and punched it to get the revs up. Did that a couple of times to see what would break. Only the wife's nerves broke when the rear slipped at about 70. She said she's going to up the life ins now.

Yeah, I have been drooling over this for about a year and decided, what the hell, just go for it and worry about the problems later if they pop up.

I have a 2001 chevy duramax with about 500k miles on it, so i am aware of injector issues. On my 3rd set and I had to pay out of pocket for 2 sets of those 8 injectors - $4k ea.
